Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Unfortunately, at high speeds (over 105km/h) it's hidden by the beefier rattle in my driver's door panel... but yeah, i started another thread on that one.
Damn beautiful but rattly beast. I will keep an eye on this thread with interest, thank all.MY11.5 5dr GTI // Carbon Steel / DSG / Detroits / RNS510 / Bluetooth / Euros

Hey All,
I apologize in advance as I haven't had the time lately to go through all 70+ pages of discussion (but i will get around to it)
My MY11 GTI is also suffering from a rattle upon acceleration like that of the car in the following clip

Just to clarify, this is what the issue is yeah? And the rattle is from the Wastegate Actuator?2011 MKVI Volkswagen Golf GTI , APR Stage 1

Assistance from a Canberra resident
Ok guys, an update.
The part is now available to order from Volkswagen Spares. The details are:
Part Number: 06J145220A
Description: CLIP
List Price: $78.95 + GST
Stock: 0 available in Australia. Back order from Germany.
So we're making progress.
HOWEVER!!!! As the description is simply "CLIP" and there has not been an "news updates" or "technical service bulletins" to the service departments, as of yet this is not a warranty procedure. If you'd like to call your VW spares and order it and install it yourself, then go ahead.
I'm still working on the 2nd part of the puzzle - whether Volkswagen Group Australia will recognise this as a warranty situation (btw, does anyone know if Volkswagen in another other country has recognised this as a warranty situation? I'm having trouble establishing that. It'd be very helpful information if anyone can assist. Ta)
I need one Golf GTI owner from Canberra who has this rattle, can demonstrate it, and is willing to take some time (within Canberra) to have this looked at. I obviously need someone who is completely sure that they have it, and that it's coming from the wastegate etc. Not someone who thinks they can hear it sometimes, or "maybe it's coming from the rear" etc.
Can you please PM me and let me know. I'll update this once I've found a suitable candidate so other's don't waste time PM'ing me.

hmm well I wonder if they will at least install it for free if you provide the part, they have the number now so surely they must recognize what this part is used for..
my 15,000 service is due soon and my clip is on the way from ECS, either way will get it fitted as soon as it arrives and report back here.

I have a rattle in the dash, very faint and only occurs over bumps or rough bitumen at low revs. Took it to the dealer and they claim it is the wastegate rattle you guys are talking about here - and that nothing can be done about it. I dont see how a dash rattle can be confused with the wastegate rattle. Either they didn't hear it at all during test drives or they cant be bothered pulling the dash out! Not happy!

My VW dealer said to be careful installing this part, as since it isn't a certified fix by VWA, if for some reason this part causes issues, ie holds the actuator closed and you run unlimited boost, blow your engine and not covered under warranty. While this is pretty unlikely, if something did happen to your engine, you could be in for a fight...
My next step is to escalate to VWA, and keep escalating until a satisfactory answer is received. There is always an escalation point, up to the CEO in Germany.

And btw, as per my previous post, it's now on the Australian ordering system

I'm just trying to point out that if we install this clip outside of VGAs advice, any issues it may cause will be our risk....
As for your question about anyone getting this done outside of Australia - this may be of some use (or not)
my local dealership was barely open to the idea of me trying to tell them about the service bulletin.Said those numbers dont mean anything to him. He tried to assure me that theyre online w vw everyday and they would know. I go in for my curtousy check in august anyway so hopefully by then it...

Ferni, that's a good point re : warranty, I guess I will have them install it in my next service , I have a feeling they will say its an hour job, or wont know what to do, or refuse to do it though.
but as Corey mentioned its now a listed part so at least they will acknowledge its purpose I hope.
