Called Barloworld Glen Waverley and they said no probs just bring it in.... going in this Friday and cannot wait, probably my only gripe with the car!!

I've got a very similar problem in my Skoda Octavia vRS.

I've spoken to multiple dealership and Skoda, funny enough no-one is aware of this issue.
I explained them about the thread and what the solution is, and Skoda advised me that they won't be liable for any damage done to the engine when I'm driving it.

I'm furious since the car is not even 3 weeks old. Just passed the 1000km's on the clock. So we need to see how things pan out with these rip-offs.

^ My brother works for Skoda funnily enough.....and recently purchased a new Octy vRS for himself. I told him his wastegate was rattling and that there is a fix for it. So the service dept fitted the clip to his car when it had its 1000km check up "service".

I'll ask him if there is a part number for the clip thing that you can quote to your local dealership.

The dealership actually ordered more of them to fix the other vRS's they had in stock too.

Completely different turbo, different wastegate, non-interchangeable parts.

Even if the cause is similar, this part won't fix your problem.

Yep, sure have. The rattle didn't bother me particularly (which is a surprise because I usually can't stand rattles of any kind), but the clip has fixed it well. There's still a slight hint of a rattle under WOT at certain RPM, but you'd not notice it unless you were looking for it - at least from inside the car.

I asked them to order the part when I booked my car in for its 2-year service, about 3 weeks beforehand, and they fitted it at the service.

Just had the clip fitted to my 5 day old GTI. The technician did say that the clip is not a 100% fix, in that it takes away about 70% of the rattle sound.

Sure enough, I can still here it, particularly when the car is cold. It's not enough to overly bother me, but still, I didn't expect my $48k brand new GTI European car to have rattles like this.

Agreed. You'd think VWAG would have this clip fitted on the production line now.

Not sure if the EA888 will be fitted to a Mk7 GTI, however if so, wonder if we will she a copy of this thread in the Mk7 forum!

It does seem a bit disappointing, but there must be some rationale behind it - it's a small clip and would be cheap as chips to fit during manufacture. Given VWA has been so quiet about it, and often only supplies the clip after customers actively complain and demonstrate the fault, they may have done the numbers and figured they don't add up to warranting a production change.

The Mk7 GTI and R will both use the EA888. There is, however, a good chance that these parts will have been re-engineered for that model. (And the R will almost certainly continue to use the larger K04 turbo anyway, so shouldn't share this issue regardless.)

As a new GTI owner, I have noticed this rattle since I got the car.

Have tried to looked through this thread but finding it really long to find what I want to know. Would it possible to advise which dealers/service departments in Sydney know about this problem and have had the problem fixed there. Don't really want to have to go into the dealer to explain and show them what the problem is and then having to argue with them whether it will be fixed under warranty.

Any advice much appreciated.

As a new GTI owner, I have noticed this rattle since I got the car.

Have tried to looked through this thread but finding it really long to find what I want to know. Would it possible to advise which dealers/service departments in Sydney know about this problem and have had the problem fixed there. Don't really want to have to go into the dealer to explain and show them what the problem is and then having to argue with them whether it will be fixed under warranty.
