Had the clip installed yesterday at VW Austral Newstead. The rattle is gone!

Got mine done at Wippells in Toowoomba recently under warranty (with the first service). Was about 80 bucks cheaper than Austral for the service, and with a complementary clean.

dropped off the GTI at Barloworld Glen Waverly this morning to get the clip done, got the new Passat as a courtesy car - its damn comfy!

I got a newish Passat CC for the day i had my golf in. Pretty swish. At first i was trying to drive it like a GTI, till i realised what it was built for... 10km/h under the speed limit cruuuuuuusin. Oh yeah white leather.

I had my clip fitted yesterday under warranty at Barloworld Five Dock in Sydney. Rattle gone! Very happy. Great service by the way - pick up and drop off from the station, no hassle.

Just dropped my Jetta 147TSI at South Yarra VW. We'll see how it goes later. Hopefully it'll be fixed!

So I can now confirm that the wastegate rattle appears on the MY12 Jetta 147TSI!

Picked it up in the evening and the rattle is gone!

Hi Corey,

I have the same problem of the rattle, sounds like a tin car with marbles being shaken, on hard acceleration and on an incline or under load. However mine is a 118TSI with Milltek turbo back exhaust. I did read of this fix, and ordered the part online, but when i took it into VW Port Macquarie to install, they said the part does not fit and is too small for the wastegate actuator rod? Any suggestions? Its driving me insane!

This issue only applies to the EA888 engines and the K03 turbo. The 118TSI engine is from a different family, and has a different turbo. I'm not sure what your issue would be, sorry.

Currently at vw getting my clip fitted (and creaky drivers seat fixed) - hopefully this sorts it!

EDIT: Done~! Happy days! no more rattle and fantastic service from northstar at redcliffe. A service department that actually has good customer service and I was there just over an hour. Awesome...

Clip fitted during the 2nd year stealership service. Rattle has not completely disappeared but is a lot quieter and really only kicks in after 2500-3000rpm

It gets better with age. Trust me. Give it another week or so.

that would b nice.
maybe the techos at vw will finally admit both the gti and the rs have the same engine.
and skoda aus will finally accept that the engine ('CCTA' ) mentioned in the tpi, is the same engine in the rs!!!

Mine is brand new, less than 300km old and does this. Thanks for the thread full of info, will book it in and get the clip fitted.
