Really? Why,are you having dramas with yours?
Mine hasn't skipped a beat..I will admit I've only done 1400kms
I've spoken to tuners from APR and Evolve and asked them which transmission they prefer, without flinching they all say the DSG
Havent had ANY dramas whatsoever with my DSG .
It's technically brilliant, but it lacks soul. as much as I like te DSG, I love the oldschool manual stick....however in saying that the manual on teh GOlf R was rather notchy....nothing like what I expected. DSG was seamless. But its getting a bit boring for me now...
I have a manual aswell... im loving the manual..being able to hold it in whatever gear i want it to be in! Would have maybe got DSG but thought it might get boring after 3-4 months..that being said..the gf is struggling to drive it as its very touchy..so she probably would have preferred DSG so that she could just put it in "D" she better start getting used to it though because I'm lovin the car that much I will keep it until the new shape comes out! my first VW..and I can say im converted! no more sti's or evos for me

I've driven manual all my life and i adore the DSG. Makes the R complete IMO.
No electricals in the car have been touched by me. Same as it came from the dealer. Will be keeping an eye on the voltage when the car sits idle for a couple of days again. If it happens again or the voltage drops below to the low 12's I will be off to the dealer.
Hey Klink, what's the verdict on your battery problem. All sorted or are you still waiting to have dealer look at it?

I am sure it has been discussed earlier but I just love the auto tilt on the passenger side mirror. I had forgotten all about it and stumbled onto it last week and what a difference it makes..

I had a flat battery on Friday pm. Car hadn't been driven for 45hours and she wouldn't turn over, just clicking noises and the trip computer had reset itself. Got out the trusty voltmeter and battery only had about 7.5 volts in it.
Put the charger on the car and 18hrs later, started it and the battery was receiving over 14v so nothing wrong with the alternator. Battery has been holding its charge over the weekend (longest break between driving has only been 18 hours though) so it doesn't seem to be a battery issue.
My only guess is that one of the electronic devices in the car didn't turn off like it was meant to (no lights left on in the car). Since the recharge all seems to be ok again...... stupid intermittent problems.

Rob, I was reading the updates to this thread and thought I must provide an update on my battery issue and the last post is a query on my issue..... good timing. I have had no issues since last week. I tested the battery yesterday after the car had been sitting for 36 hours and the battery has 12.28v in it. 28 hours later (about half an hour ago) the voltage was 12.27v so it seems to be holding the charge ok. I noticed on Wednesday that when I shut the rear hatch and it only half locked, the mdf display did not turn it self off, so maybe i didn't close the hatch properly last week and this was enough to drain the battery (though i would have thought that the car would have been set up to switch the electonics off after a while to prevent battery drain).
At this stage I am putting it down to operator error rather than a failure on the part of my much beloved R. If it happens again I will get a load test done on the battery.

I can only assume but the APR guys I reckon would be looking at it from a performance perspective and do doubt DSG kicks it and that launch control gives me a hard on when I watch it on you tube. Most of my driving is in the thick of Brisbane city and a DSG is just boring I find. Most people would love not have to worry about shifting in ****ty traffic but I find it keeps me occupied. I must admit tho, wish the R did not have HSA! I love my handbrake and if you handbrake and HSA it feels retarded. Can you turn it off?

I'm a very happy camper as I collected my R today. Quick question. Should the front floor mats have some sort of R insignia on them? Mine dont and it seems odd.
Cheers

I seem to be having a bit of trouble setting it. Back to the manual. And thanks for the response re: floor mats. It does help.

Maybe that's what it was. Nothing worse having a ****y battery.
