Hey Dean...I dont hold too much faith in my dyno results given andret's results here.

Im going to get another dyno run in elsewhere in the very near future...

Nope was not on a vbox..Let's not start this up again..

There is nothing wrong with RE Customs Dyno.

Andret what I would suggest is you go and get another dyno run elsewhere just using rollers as it seems a little high. But then again it could be the different exhaust that has made the difference over Fab_R's setup.

      • Hey Andret,

This looks awesome!! Very nice bit of kit. Costs around?

And was that on a roller dyno or a HUB? (HUB obviously read out higher! If not thats some pretty good numbers there fella..

        Nice Pics!

            Dyno Results
            APR 1 Without custom exhaust
            (189KW)

            APR 1 with custom exhaust
            (192KW)
So the exhaust is just for sound and looks? I would have expected much more than 3KW gain...

Most "Cat-back exhausts" (which don't replace the cat, btw) are just for sound and looks! On modern turbo-based cars, most of the cars to be had are in the downpipe (which is connected directly to the turbo) and the catalytic converter with a "high flow" or "motorsports" version. The cat is replaced with the downpipe - sometimes called a front pipe or dump pipe.

Once the downpipe is replaced, you can then also run a Stage II turn. In any case, the peak power is still not a big jump. But since back pressure on the turbo is reduced, spool times improve and come at lower RPMs and the power band is widened.

                • 3Kw is peak.
The DP should improve spooling, and midrange may be lifted too.
There are other factors like throttle response too, which may improve driving experience, but not reflect on a dyno.

(edit: oops, seems corey beat me to it, need to refresh before i start typing)

                  • oil leak

Has anyone that owns a Golf r experienced an oil leak?
Notably after first checkup/service, prior to this there were no issues

Any ideas what could cause there/if there any easy fixes?

i'm assuming you're seeing some puddles on your garage floor... it might just be AC condensate. dip your finger in it and see if it's clear

                            Thanks for the update Guy.

Wouldn't be the first time that has happened during a service.

                              • Thanks for the quick responses

i shall check the oil filter this evening
Am i right in thinking the oil filter is located on the bottom side of the engine (behind the plastic coverings?) and accessed from underneath?
