interesting observation is that the idle speed is approx 800 in d but jumps to 1200 in s mode .
is there a reason for this ?

Closer to the turbo boost therefore quicker response

I thought Euro spec was 199kW, not 239kW?
and it's "safer" there due to better fuel and cooler conditions.

Having said that, i personally think the APR stage 1 is "safe", it's been well tested on the S3, and APR have a good reputation that they will want to continue.

The main question is around defects with the engine itself, as VW may point to the retune as the cause, even if that is not the case.
would be rather difficult to prove one way or the other.

I'd like to get a few thousand k's on my engine first, just to be sure it's settled in and any hidden gremlins are found.

Delivery times

Hi Guys and Girls

Just a quick question about when people ordered and when they are being told they are getting a car

I ordered a pretty basic spec blue dsg 5 door at the start of July and now my dealer is telling me April delivery.

Has anyone else had these delays as from what I read the other people who ordered in July are expecting a Christmas present?

Wow! 9 months is a long time for order to delivery!!! In most cases it appears to be more a 5-6 month time frame from order to delivery. For me Mid June order Late Nov/Early Dec delivery, talk to your dealer again and ask the reasons why the long wait.

Hey mate,

I think I'm in the same situation as you. I ordered my golf r on june 20, then I got an email from my barloworld dealer telling me that there is production line delays and I won't be getting it till 2nd week in January.

However I see that people who have ordered after me are starting to receive their cars now.

Do you think it could be a case of them selling my car to someone else and reordering? Or has there genuinely been production line delays?

Would appreciate your guys input before I ring them and start asking questions.

I will take a stab here.. I was talking to my dealer the other day and he was saying that VWA have recently changed the way they allocate orders. It seems that to make it more equitable they provide an allotment to each dealership so there is a steady flow to all the distribution arms.

Potentially with the application of this arrangement some orders are out of whack with others.. I guess the concern is if your orders are later than others who ordered after you from the same dealership.

We have seen dealers comment about production delay depending on some options, eg the Polo had delays with the Audio upgrade. But I haven't see any of the resident dealers commenting on it regarding the R's. I'm sure if there were issues they'd have spoken up by now. Some of them have a number of people harrassing them on a daily basis

This isn't a great way to establish the dealer has shafted you. My order was entered on the system on 26/05/10 and it is only just on a boat now. Plenty of people have go their orders since.

It could be because I added options, changed colour or the other orders were pre allocated spec's half way through the process already and the dealer just yanked it from the queue. Or it might just be luck of the draw (doubt it), but no one here knows the formula. I doubt VWA does, let alone the dealers!

yeah you need to upload your pic somewhere first like your home directory at your ISP or a free photobucket account page etc. I just upload to my Iinet home directory, but I'm sure others have better quicker methods. After that just link the photo in here with "insert image" and provide the link to whereever you uploaded your photo to (IE ISP home directory, photobucket page etc.)

Exactly. In any case, early June orders are appearing to average early December, so it's not too far out to expect that late June orders are arriving early January.

However, start of July to April such as Poolshark is being told doesn't sound right to me.

I gotta say Poolshark, Im not surprised having nearly bought a car from Barloworld at Mascot.

The worst dealers in Sydney, maybe the worst customer service having bought anything, from anywhere.

But I see your from Newcastle so maybe you went elsewhere?

Anyway, April is Ridiculous, and I would go to a dealer and just buy one of their allotments before then with a similar spec comng in December..

Buy from a regional dealer guys... my last 2 performance cars have come from regional dealers and you'd be surprised at the stock they sit on sometimes. Didn't pre-order, got a fully loaded R 2 weeks after launch for nearly 10 grand off, nuff said.
