I placed a Golf R order in late June and was told yesterday that the car won't be delivered until January 2011 at the earliest!! Was also informed that it is due to a shortage of parts ... mine is also a DSG order.

I did however find a decent one for the R on the VW UK website, a few different options available listed than what we get but most of the specs are shown.

Just got back from a 4 hour run up the coast, made me curious about the Golf R ride and load capacity. Generally I am the only one in the car and mostly used for the daily commute but with the occasional long run I was was wondering if anything was comparable to the R in ride and what experiences have been had with long distance travelCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

Order dates either don't mean much or it depends on colour/option choice or even changes.
I changed colours twice and added more options but ordered before launch day, basically a few days after VWA provided the dealers with the 3 door order code but last update listed the car as being built wk40 which is tomorrow afternoon!
Add me to the list of no lifers/need to find a hobby hehe.... Current local times in selected cities

So the exhaust is on it's way from APR. Looks great! But I do remember mentioning to Coreying that HiTechs stuff was pretty good, but it was premium priced at around $2500-3000, which is quite a bit for an exhaust in non-euro land.
Some points on this:
-I might struggle to pay $4k for an exaust. I mean, it's for a golf not a Porsche.
-the welds on the APR kit look good but not any better than HiTech
-tips look good
-lastly, what part of europe are the exhausts made in, Germany?Last edited by REXman; 06-10-2010, 04:35 AM.2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |

Not "HiTechs", Milltek. I've never personally used Milltek, but other forum members here have.
Also, this APR exhaust is not made in Germany. It was developed and manufactured by APR locally. No APR exhausts come from Germany. They come from the USA. This is why they're actually much cheaper than the Oettinger (and other Germany brands) because of free trade and better exchange rates and volumes from the USA. In addition, Porsche exhausts from APR are $7k to $10k
But please keep the conversion in Guy H's thread until we get all the details. It'll be easier for him and everyone else to ask their questions in the one place.Last edited by Corey_R; 06-10-2010, 07:00 AM.

Those aftermarket lights on the Golf R look like the ones coming out on the new Polo GTI.

And yeah I'm referring to hi tech, not miltek. Would love to know what hitch charge for their porsch and Lamborghini exhausts.. 10k.. That is some big cash on pipe but if you have it on those sort of cars I'd go it too..Last edited by REXman; 06-10-2010, 07:39 AM.2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |
