Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'd love to see the percentage of cars fitted with sunroof but I think the only reason my dealer still has a brand new 3D R in their showroom is because it DOESNT have one. Leather, DSG, 19's, SatNav....missing one item

    • Lol yeah... if that car had a sunroof dave-, I know a few people who'd take it, regardless of the colour!

No you wouldn't, cos I'd already have bought it and be too busy driving it around for you to know about it

Pretty much the first option i ticked was the sunroof, never had a car with one but always wanted one so i thought if i'm going to spend around $60k on a car i'm going to bloody well get one.

              • Yep, was a must have on my list too... never had one before I bought a bomby old Corolla when I lived in London that had one and swore I'd never go without again

Was driving back over the Harbour Bridge the other day (Tues I think) and it was in the 20s, very sunny... made me realise just how good a decision it was to get the sunroof

                • Not a bad idea to let some air in considering how bad the wind buffering is with the windows down even just a bit.

                  • A sunroof is also great for flushing hot air out of the car - hot air rises, and the fan/ac pushing cooler air into the car takes the heat out quickly.

                    • Was quite obsessed with the Blue 5 Door DSG Golf R from Southern Classic Cars being used as a Safety Car at today's Eastern Creek Classic Car display. Sounded awesome when they flogged it.

                        • Just read this entire thread...thanks for all the info and thoughts....

I am really looking forward to getting an R to replace my Mk5 GTI (As soon as I can convince the war office).

The only down fall for me is the colour range that VW is offering here in Australia.

My current car is red and would be happy to get another in that colour...or...

How good would and R look in Solar Orange (XR5 or Audi colour) with the 19 inch black rims...

                          I can but dream...

Thanks again for all the posts.

                          Regards

Thought of that...very expensive exercise and the paint would never be as good as factory paint.

                                Vinyl wrap?
That way you can reverse it back to factory paint if you get sick of it/want to sell.
