Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

With much joy, I removed the rego sticker from the windscreen now that we no longer have to display them in NSW

Removed the two VW Dealer stickers as well (service sticker and 1800 sticker)

      A clean screen

      • Observation: Audible fuel slop from the rear fuel tank. Amusing to listen to.

I did mine last night when driving back from a NYE party. Took the dealer ones off a couple of weeks after delivery.

I left the dealer ones on from last service as I've been out of the country quite a bit lately and the wife has been using the car (she likes the 1800 and service stickers)

Edit - surprised me how easy the blue rego came off. They usually stick like ....

            Still, blue, rubbish eh

            • I programmed the 1800 number into one of the overhead buttons. Did leave the service date sicker on though.

                • Question to the experienced, about to go long haul with a bit in the boot, what is the best tire pressure to run the Rs on for this sort of travel?

Inside the filler cap there's some suggestion as to a normally loaded car and a fully loaded car. I'd be inclined to follow that.

                    • Yes, I know, just wondered if folk had found some balance. It says I should run 40 PSI with 2 people and a cat, but if I have 5 people and 30 cats then 35 PSI. I have just put it on 38 as there will be 2 people and 15 cats

                        • That doesn't sound right. PSI should be higher for greater load, based on sticker.
