Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks for the replies everyone. Might see if I can find the fuse for the DRLs and pull it out. I drive with the lights on all the time so don't really need/want the DRLs turning on as well. I know they give the R a unique point of difference against all other Golfs but DRLs are popping up on everyhting now - the current Merc C Class and even the Kia Optima have DRLs in a similar position to the R.
Originally posted by Machine View PostCongrats on the new car, by the way. Was it a factory order? It was a dealer car that they ordered for their own stock. Tried to get a factory order but was told it couldn't be done. I put down the deposit in August, the car was built in early September, and it arrived in Oz late October.
A couple of observations:
- If you turn the headlight switch to '"parkers" position and get out of the car and lock with the key fob, the inside section of the LED tail lights turn off. If you unlock the car the inside section turns on again. I also read on here somewhere that the same thing happens when you open and close the driver's door, but I can't get that to work on my car.
- The sound of the air being pumped through the cooling/heating dash vents is very noticeable and 'whooshy' even at the lowest fan speed, much more so than previous cars I've owned. It gets even louder with the AC on. Anyone else notice this?
- When I slowly push the clutch in slightly (a few centimetres) and hold it there is a small pulsating feeling coming through the clutch pedal. It is more noticable with the AC on. When I push the clutch pedal further in the shudder goes away. Any ideas? Problem or normal?Last edited by nickows; 26-11-2012, 08:46 PM.

Originally posted by Machine View PostNope, haven't noticed. I keep the AC on all the time, pretty much on AUTO and it doesn't bother me. Keeps me cool as a cucumber. Check that all your vents are open, including the one in the back (and close the one in your glove box unless you're chilling the champagne).

Golf R Observations and Questions
It's the Auto Fan high or Low. Do you know the recirculate button has two modes as well. The right select 'A' will recirculate automatically if it detects poor air quality. The left selection is permanent recirculate.MY12 Golf R | 5 Dr | Candy White | DSG | 19"Black Talladegas | ACC | RNS510 SATNAV | Sunroof | RVC | BT | MDI

I'll save you another 6 months by pointing out the two lights on the air recirculation button as well (first light is manual recirculation and the second puts it in auto mode (based on pollen sensor).
