Seems odd they appear to have covered 1200km since they started advertising.

It also should have had 2 services by now - July 2013 & July 2014.

Personally, I'm of the opinion cars should be used, so I think they are asking too much and a price around $40k would be more realistic.

There are plenty of other cars if you look beyond SA, so maybe look further afield or be prepared to pay more for a local car with less fussing about.

January is usually a quiet time for selling cars - February might have a bit more on offer

my mk5 GT TDI 2008 leather is still great & not an issue after 6yrs+.
my 2.5yr old r leather seems to be wearing/flaking on the drivers side.

the R has been babied more than the mk5..
    The R is 2.5yrs old.
okay finally got it approved by BW to be replaced under warranty
now they need to find a replacement & book in a date to carry out the change

I found my bluetooth OBD reader from my previous car

Are there any good OBD reader programs for the golf ?

For my previous car i could download an ipad\android app that would show different forms of data readouts

    Cheers

I've got my first letter as well (except mine actually is expiring afaik - will check) - my plan was to cancel the VW one and go direct through Allianz. Calling VW Assist generally always ended up with 'better go see a dealer' anyway.

I just confirmed everyones suspicions on here that I am a dumbarse

I started getting letters from VW to renew their roadside assistance which came with the R (they are up to their 4th letter).

I thought I'd check what was included in our Allianz extended factory warranty.

I was absolutely sure we only had two extra years (perhaps because I kept reading this 2 year extension in threads)

Well, seems we have 3 year extended and it includes all we need for roadside assistance (not that I was ever going to renew the VW one)

OK, maybe I'm not a dumbarse but definitely an old codger with a failing memory.

Even if you're just on Stage 1, if you're driving the car hard a lot then it's probably worth changing oils more often

The new APR low pressure fuel pump / controller setup for my R arrived this week, so I booked it in for the installation along with the 30k service which was slightly overdue.

The new LPFP system and associated software upgrade is supposedly good for about 20kW over the 'safe' tune my car was running with the stock fuelling system, though in my limited driving since the new system was installed it's a bit hard to notice the difference. I suspect when we run the car at the Cooma 1000 sprint again later this year there will be a difference in top speed down the runway (as that's where you need the extra power) but for around town the car feels pretty much the same.

That said I wasn't really chasing the extra power, but more wanting to have the Stage 3 setup finally 100% sorted which is what the LPFP system achieves. Full credit to APR and Canberra VW Centre for working with my car as one of the first local Stage 3 GTX installs and sticking with me to get everything fully sorted.

On another note, CVWC suggested we change the DSG oil even though it's not 'officially' due to be changed until 60,000kms. Good thing we did - apparently the oil looked well overdue for a change and far more 'used' than you'd expect from 30,000kms. For anyone running Stage 2 or above on their Rs it's probably worth reducing the DSG oil change interval as a precaution.

but unfortunately a consequence of this is the DRL's get dimmed

(i dont mind them being dimmed when the headlights are on)
Agree you need VAGCOM. Just make sure you can dim the DRLs when it's dark. They are too bright for oncoming traffic otherwise.

A sorta strange request but i kinda get what your after, i think the only way you can make that happen is in VAGCOM

    Good info thanks

I drive sedately these days so tyre shredding shouldn't be an issue. I need to do a long drive with one to see what it is like on an interstate trip.

The R handles piss poor in comparison, the wifes little WS Fiesta is more fun in that regard.
