Sand and Salt - any of the mods you listed will be fine for a daily driver & weekend track weapon.

With the downpipe - we have the stock catback & it has an awesome noise (a bit to do with stage 3 as well.)

We will be building our own version of catback in the meanwhile, as with stage 3 we need to free it up as much as possible. RSC will be the go, but it may not happen for a long time due to circumstances listed above. Our S3 APR Australia exhaust is a good one, sold many & the noise is great, inside & outside the car.

    Whitejames,

Yes, we managed to remove the ACC, not that hard in the end, a little bit of trial & error, but we have it so it can be easily reversed if required & put back to stock. No dash warning lights, but the control button on the console flashes (quickly fixed by unplugging it - or you can fit a blanking plate). We left all wiring in place, just waterproofed it & tucked it out of the way.

How does the APR S3 Exhaust compare to the MKV GTI Quad Exhaust for in-car sound?

Totally different - completely different design - too hard to explain on the web!

              Looks ace Guy.
Not really sure about the look of the wheels, might look nicer if they were darker or some BBS ones etc but you are giong for function over looks so i see why you have them.

                Looking good Guy!
                Coupla Q's...
The stock brakes appear to be single sided, twin pots, is that correct?
(bit hard to tell with the clip and "R" cover on...)
                I assume the Enkei's are 18"?

I too would like to know whether they're 18 or 19" wheels on the car now.
The other question I have is about the engine cover. Is there any way that the stock engine cover can go back on with a Stage III kit?
Can the engine car even stay on after just a Carbonio air intake is installed in the Golf R?

Stocks are single piston, sigle sided - pretty archaic eh? Still basically the old R32 caliper & they weigh heaps

the Enkei's are 18 x 8.5 - gives us a better range of track tyres to choose from!

Have not spent much on looks on this one - these wheels are ~ 8kg's each & good brake clearance, so they fit our bill nicely!

You can trip the stock cover to bet it back on, its a bit of a job - cut away the sides & back & just leave the "skin" - the raised portion on the 4" MAF housing is used to anchor the rear - The boys at Awesome GTI (Manchester) are good at doing this (can't find a pic sorry) - I just cant bear to cut up a $700 engine cover

The stock FSI Carbonio uses the stock engine cover, so no problem there. We are using a modified TSI intake on ours.

Hey Guy_H, what's the deal with ECU program switching on the Golf R? I notice on the APR site that only a single program is listed, plus a little footnote.

I figured as much, better to sacrifice stance for unsprung weight for this car.

Interesting that the Stage 1 apparently nets a sub 5-sec 100.
Is it purely stage 1 ecu remap and no other modifications (i.e. no sticky tyres, no weight removal etc)?
If that is the case then this will be a very worthy upgrade and surprise an awful lot of more expensive cars.

Now you guys just need to work out how to get the haldex from the Bentley Supersports so it runs rear bias rather than front bias.

At this stage, its a memory space issue that the late ME9's have - APR are working on switching but it could take some time yet! If you need to go back to stock for any reason, a quick visit to your APR dealer wont cost you anything.
