Don't know if anyone saw last week's TopGear USA but the Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster (S-tronic) had horrid jerking at low speeds - way worse than any DSG Golf.

Yes, that's what they're doing, hence the 6 weeks wait.

Today I picked up my car after 60k service and after complaining that there is a grinding noise in 3rd/4th gear when turning left at low revs, they advised me that the clutch pack needs yet another replacement, but I have to wait about 6 weeks, it's on back order now.

Suffice to say I had the dead engine at 15.000 km.

I had my clutch pack replaced about a month ago - I would assume that unless you have the shudder you are not going to get a replacement clutch.. Its not every car that develops the issue from what I understand.

I am new and i join this forum because i found this thread about the harsh shuder at the 2nd gear with DSG7!
First of all i have a VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI 160hp with DSG7 it is MY2012.Before i buy it i was enthousiast about the DSG but then i do some search at the net and i found A LOT OF Problems!!! Anyway i love it and i bought it! I Have it 2 months and i have 3500km . All the car is PERFECT !!! DSG7 Perfect exept the Annoying noise(rattle) when i am with 2nd or 3rd gear and i am at rough road. Do your DSG7 do the same annoying rattle?? From my searchs i have see that all DSG7 have the same sound at rough road.

On topic now ... at the greek sciroccoclub there is a SAME THREAD as here!!! ''Harsh Shudder at 2nd Gear with DSG Gearbox'' From the start of the January of 2012 some VW Dealers call some users of DSG7 that a new Clutch Pack is out from VW so all the guys who have the problem with the harsh shudder with the DSG7 are now happy , its official there is a new Clutch Pack for DSG7 ,new material, new code, better clutch pack!Go and ask your dealer to contact with VW Germany !

Its true that vw have a new clutch pack for DSG7 ,because i go to my dealer to take some parts for a modification and i ask ''i hear that VW has a new Cluch pack for DSG7, is it true?'' answer: Of course ,but do you have problem? me: no i just ask...

So i hope to have the new clutch pack because mine is MY2012 . And also i hope that the new clutch pack will not have problems after 20.000km
    stay on topic guys!!
Here is the topic for the problem with the DSG7 ...
I quote again my post so all guys to see this !
Does anyone here ask the dealer for the new updated Clutch pack?
Here in Greece 2.000 DSG7 change clutch pack with the new one .... the last 3-4 monthes if you went to the dealer for clutch pack replace he told you to wait until the new one come...When the new one comes out all DSG7 with the problem change it ...

Plenty of Japanese cars with problems out there, but for the most part they aren't pushing the envelope with innovative designs and engines.

With change comes issues. Buy a car with nothing particularly inspiring and you might limit the components that you could potentially have problems with, but that's no guarantee.... And how boring would that be?

How so? I work every day with supposedly the most reliable vehicles on the market and frankly, they have rubbish build quality and nearly every one of them has gone back a minimum of twice under warranty and not for minor things, I'm talking whole turbo setups, full engines, cylinder heads, gearboxes, diffs etc.

Brand reliability just doesn't exist like it used to because cars have become -like most things in our consumerist society- a disposable item. Stuff breaks down because it's supposed to, it's just meant to do it after warranties run out

My first paragraph is to say that German cars are just as unreliable as any other car on the market because they're built to break, same as all the other vehicle manufacturers. I apologise for the confusion.

Well, as TopGear say, you can't be a true petrol-head unless you've driven an Alfa Romeo or Golf 118TSI.

    Oh wait, that's not right.

VW is shocking with reliability as many a multiple VW owner (like me) will tell you but most o us repeat offenders buy them because we like what the brand does with their cars, and why we spend so much money on making them better Don feel disheartened, it's all part and parcel of owning a VW unfortunately.

In regards to the motor, common worldwide failing of the 1.4tsi motor aside from oil consumption is torched and cracked pistons. Don't be surprised though if it is a new motor...

My 2009 Golf 118TSi has had issues from day 1. The car has now done 54K after 2.5 years and it has been diagnosed as having piston 4 misfiring and losing compression. The car shakes and vibrates at idle and during driving. It's booked in at the dealer in a few days-they seem to think it's a serious problem. From what I've read with other people having similar problems, it's serious enough that a new engine might need to be installed. I'm very unhappy with this unreliability for a "40K small German" car. After i get these issues sorted out, I'm getting rid of the car and purchasing a 2012 BMW 125i.

How's your GTI been going Adam?
That does sound like good service. Glad to hear the problem's sorted, and fingers crossed neither that nor the shudder comes back!

My GTI's a keeper, Stu - still puts a huge smile on the dial. Mates think it's awesome and can't keep up. Just wait till you get yourself a 'Roc! (But you'll still miss your Golf!)

Wifey has just picked it up. I got an efficient text message around 9AM from the dealer saying it was ready to pick up. I rang back and they told me it was the regulator flap was found to be out of range, which they replaced. I'm thinking that is the unit that blends supercharger and turbo boost. That would tie in with very poor or no throttle response, just had a big fat turbo lag ha ha.
