Had my first service on the 77TSI Golf with the 7 speeder today. One of the items they did a factory bulletin service for was the DSG software update.
They also fixed some washer on the actuator or something.
Overall, I thought it felt smoother, but wife didn't think the gearbox was jerky before this.

Had no idea this was such an issue. Our 118 TSI (June 2010) has just had a clutch replaced. On the service form it's shown as
vw0am198140c replacement kit.
Is this the new clutch pack for the DSG7?

3K holy cr@p ... I gave them a call just now, they said had received my car from toll truck and has been allocated to a service advisor. I might call them Friday and ask what is the update. If takes forever to fix it, i would ask for a complimentary loan car.Originally posted by Stelex View PostYeah, I thought it would be an 09-er. I had the same problem, just more brutal; drive, drive, drive, stop ... end of story.
3 weeks later I had it on the road again with a new mechatronics put in. Out of warranty it would cost around $3,000 to fix.
Ask the dealer to give you a complimentary loan car.

Sounds like the mechatronic has failed... is your car still under warranty?Originally posted by rockDAhouse View PostMy car just get tow back to VW. Since last night my car is not changing gear, not even the P R N D S displaying on the dashboard. car can only go up to 40km then drop straight back to 0. This morning, i turn on the car, everything looks fine, driving along homebush bay drive...out of sudden the whole car start to shudder and clunk so badly, engine light came on, was on D7 and straight away all these disappear on the dashboard and no gear engagement. Stop on the side of the road for 10 minutes, turn on the car, now i can see it is changing gear but every single gear change, no matter is increasing or decreasing, has a very very bad clunk sound.
SIGH .....

All work and parts have 24 months warranty, regardless if you paid for it or if it was done under warranty.
This is from the email I received from Volkswagen Australia
Please also be advised that genuine Volkswagen parts carry a 24 month warranty (independent of the Volkswagen New vehicle Warranty Policy) from the date of purchase or installation when carried out by a Volkswagen Authorised Repairer. You should therefore retain your invoice from your Volkswagen dealership for 24 months as proof of the beginning of the warranty period. This warranty is available at any Authorised Volkswagen Dealer throughout Australia.

Alok, you shouldn't worry too much about getting it fixed.
Firstly, you have the extended warranty, which is exactly that - extended warranty and covers your vehicle in the exactly same way as the initial 3 year warranty.
Secondly, any work and parts the VW service centre does on your vehicle carries two years parts and about warranty, check your receipt/service sheet when it was originally done.
As for the clutch packs ... I have Golf VI 118 TSI DSG, still a few months warranty left, and I complained about the DSG behaviour from the very early days. The thing finally completely failed at 45,000 km and was replaced under warranty. At around 50,000 km the mechatronics failed, so they had to replace that as well. Not long after that the clutch started shuddering again in 2D, so at 60,000 km service they were supposed to replace the clutch pack yet again - but they didn't. They said drive on and we'll order a new type that now goes in all new DSG7s, it will take a few weeks.
They said the original clutch pack has been discontinued due to a high failure rate and that the new redesigned clutch pack is now available from a different manufacturer.
After 4 weeks the parts arrived, the clutch pack was replaced for the second time and around 8,000 km later the car drives beautifully, like it never did with the first two packs.
The second replacement was in March or April, so probably the one you've got is still the dodgy old type one. THe new one should be okay.
