Has anyone who's had their car checked for clutch/DSG issues had APR installed? Did you turn off & hide the tune or openly admit to it? I'm booked in for a few weeks later and will probably make use of the security lockout feature. That said, there's every chance they reset the ECU as well in which case I'll have to visit the guys at VP again anyway.

New clutch pack for me today as well (41 k's). Will report back after driving for a few days.Originally posted by cme2c View PostMines having a new clutch fitted ATM. The flash didn't work (obviously) so we'll see when I get it back.

Has anyone else who's had the software flash noticed that engine braking is now much more aggressive when going down steep hills? My car changes down to 3rd and revs its tits off MY09 118TSI - SOLD MY09 118TSI - SOLD

I know some have said that the software makes the car hold gears longer, I guess that is a side effect. The manual is also quite specific about using 3rd gear in Manual mode when going down steep hills too.

It does on the upshifts - makes the car much more driveable.Originally posted by Ryan_R View PostI know some have said that the software makes the car hold gears longer.

Car does it in 'D' Mode. Definitely only started after the update. Gave me quite a start the first time - thought I'd accidently put it into 'S' Mode. The manual is also quite specific about using 3rd gear in Manual mode when going down steep hills too.MY09 118TSI - SOLD

Those reports were following a DSG software update, replacing the clutch won't do it.

I feel like I'm getting messed about with getting mine fixed... have had the DSG looked at twice so far.
The first time was at the 15k service and they supposedly re-flashed it then. Second time was just to look at the DSG as the shudder was getting worse, latest software upgrade done.
I was told that if it still did the shudder then to call or email and they would book it in for the replacement clutch pack. I emailed 3 times, finally got a response which was "What we need to do is actually get you back in before I can replace the clutch packs as we need a diagnostic log and technical logs with tech in Sydney."

Has this happened to anyone else and what the heck have Sydney got that the WA dealers haven't when it comes to disgnostics?MY14 Audi S3 - Misano Red, S-tronic, Performance pack with parade red trim.

Because this is is an expensive warranty repair, the dealer would have to get the sign-off from VW Australia before doing the work. This may involve sending diagnostic logs which is perfectly reasonable.Originally posted by Bel View PostI feel like I'm getting messed about with getting mine fixed... have had the DSG looked at twice so far.

I just took my car in twice - first time for the software reflash and second time for the clutch pack (picking up this afternoon).
I would guess that there have been a lot more claims in Sydney so dealers know what's required from VWA.
Also be aware that your dealer may not have the clutch pack in stock so that will require another trip and the repair may take 2 days.

 Good luck!MY09 118TSI - SOLD

I'm presuming that VW would ensure that I'm running the latest software as part of this work. If memory serves me, my car had the latest version upon delivery anyway.Originally posted by Ryan_R View PostThose reports were following a DSG software update, replacing the clutch won't do it.

I had to wait for parts and/or a booking slot, but changing the clutch pack took less than a day.Originally posted by hentaiboy View PostAlso be aware that your dealer may not have the clutch pack in stock so that will require another trip and the repair may take 2 days.

When I picked up my car the reversing camera wasn't working. The dealer couldn't get it working so the car was hooked up to the VW network and a techie in Germany ended up fixing it. Our cars seem to be computers on wheels these days.Originally posted by Bel View Post"What we need to do is actually get you back in before I can replace the clutch packs as we need a diagnostic log and technical logs with tech in Sydney."

Yup I'm in the same bout. Will have to get rid of it before extended warranty runs out though.Originally posted by hentaiboy View PostMissus reports car now drives "like a normal automatic" after the clutch pack replacement.
