Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks for the sly dig at my 35

    Ugly doesn't necessarily mean harder

    • Didn't know you had an ED35.

      Still, it fits.

Ugly is good, rest are soft (and pretty, if you like pretty)

You should have bought a Megane RS then if your into ugly, it's the dictionary definition.

Most regard them as a stunning design that make the Golf look even more bland than we all know it is

          Still, subjectivity huh.

Almost as startling as those who fantasise over a colour

            • The Megane's rear is one of the prettiest sights on the road.
The Megane's front is one of the ugliest

                • So Fritz Eichler is leaving AMG to head-up VW engine & drivetrain.
He hates FWD so will be interesting to see what direction the GTIs might take...or will VW not let him mess with the current formula. Or maybe all golfs will become AWD?

                  Hmmmm.

                            • Returning to the spirit of the thread: Bumped into neighbour Ray today ... after being dejected about failing to sell the MKV R32 at auction last month, he tells me that a local Sydney dealer (okay Penrith dealer) is saying, third hand, that MK7 standard Golf due for release in Mar 2013 ... GTI in Aug 2013 ... and Golf R Dec 2013 ... with stock available of the R by December 2013. Info third hand, but interesting to see how the Golf R fares with a EA888 motor against the GTI power pack EA888.
                              Cheers.

Does anyone know if the R will have the same turbo as the GTI or will it have the K04 (ie a bigger one)?

That would make a big point of difference. Valve lift with K04 would be goooooood.
