I dispute the reasonable thread component. It is full of ramblings of imaginary neighbours who take 24 months to make a decision on what car to buy and then refunding dealers.Audi S3. Sold
Golf R. Sold
Citroen DS3 Dsport. Sold
2016 Skoda Octavia RS Wagon.

Seems to be an issue with new MK6 GolfGTI where excess stock is sitting on showroom floor & excess stock being registered as demo stock in an effort to increase volume through discounting. Many good deals to be had, but killing resale value of current MK6 GTI and R owners. Such is life. Most Euro makes are apparently having this issue. There's going to have to be some European manufacturing plant closures in the near future if GFK turns out to be a decade long depression, which it probably will be in Europe.
Cheers .

When new car sales are at such a high and dealers are doing such good deals to move stock it really makes it seem silly to buy near new when for only a few cups of coffee more a week in your repayments you can actually have new.
Mk6 GTI are now dipping below $30,000 around here in the private sales. Mysteriously though they're not really selling...Last edited by Tom87; 07-01-2013, 08:41 AM.

GTI and R's with minimal options will always linger on the second hand market. GTI and R's with tasty options tend to move faster on the second hand market imo. Overall, yes, the market is depressed for second hand GTI and R's as there are so many of them around now, esp. GTI's. The Golf R owners do have an advantage on the 2nd market with less competition. Not everyone purchases cars on hire-purchase agreements: a cup of coffee a day is not an issue and no need to turn over vehicles every 3-4 years, especially given the look of the MK7 Golf GTI -v- MK6 GTI. Externally not a lot of difference to the MK6 GTI, perhaps a step backwards in a couple of areas.
The Mark 7 is just around the corner with specs hitting the ADR committee recently:

Interesting to see that all Golf's fitted with 19" wheel option will have Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) ... perhaps help prevent the front tyres rubbing on the front inner guards.
Cheers.
