Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The steering feel is very direct and a short ratio and the overall response from the car is fantastic.. no I havent driven one but when you read/watch 15+ reviews from very reputable journalists and motorsport icons and see the genuine excitment on their faces whats not to beleive? And they can drift in the dry very easily mate.
Of course they arent about perfect interior quality they are about response/feedback and bringing the joy back into driving whic they have done at a fantastic price... sure they arent a powerhouse but if ppl complain about the straight line power they are totally missing the point of the car.
Ps: The first batches are sold out in quiete a few markets already Australia included.
You can be a hater, doesnt mean you know what your on about.

*yawn*.. amazing how some folk can get so emotional about a car that isn't even in circulation yet.. could it be the hype..
Yeah yeah, quote the paperwork.. have you ever driven a Subaru Liberty.. 4 , 6 or turbo, there is nothing under 3 grand and then to get it to perform you have to spank it until the pistons are denting the front wings.
It has the weight distribution of an MX-5.. sure they are a great drive and if you have the top down it even feels like it is going fast.
I aint no hater, just not a hype believer... seems you mistake the twoCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

Heck, even my daughters Swift (1.4) is an absolute hoot to drive like this. The 86 even better.
As much as I love my R, the 86 looks better, probably outhandles it. Downsides are, way less power and torque, no AWD, none of the niceties. I would never replace my R with one but I am looking at one as a second car.Last edited by Candyman; 07-06-2012, 04:40 PM.8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW

I mean both are going to be stupid cheap 2nd hand cars, though because all the wannabe boy racers will have thrashed the F86/BRZ you would stay away from.. the Megane would be a better spend cause of the high entry cost.

I wouldn't call it slow either. Not as quick as my R but it aint a slug.
Plenty have done track tests on it
Most recent one I saw posted a video showing 0-200 kph time
I think it was 28 seconds to 200 kph. The S2000 mk1 is more than 29 seconds and I am pretty sure it is a similar time to cars such as the 350z and Z4 coupe.
The BRZ and 86 sound pretty good too in video clips.
Looking forward to test driving one. At least they seem to be more connected to the road than the Golf's8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW

To my mind, the MX-5 is a closer competitor to the Subyota even though the Mazda has far less power. These cars are about balance and finesse while WRX's, Golf R's and the like take a brute force approach.
But if you want one as a toy car, why not go the whole hog and get a Caterham or similar? If I could justify a toy car, that'd be what I would get.Resident grumpy old fart

This was where my thinking was, it really isn't a class competitor in the GTI/R space. I think it possibly BFYB there is a good argument and the aftermarket bits will go for eva.. again not a hater but the reason I moved from the Jap brands to the Euro is the low down useable torque for everyday driving. This unit seems to say that it is "fun" on its limit, as a daily.. hard to say at this pointCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

Nice thing about the 86/brz is that it's liveable as a second car8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW
