You have confirmed for me that you can negotiate further after receiving corporate discounts. Being that said, with the discount offered to me already plus the corporate discount, I should be able to get the final drive away price under LCT.
I haven't mentioned to the dealer yet, that I'm applicable for a corporate discount. The reason being is I just wanted to know a rough negotiated price without haggling to the limit and I wanted to get a few more quotes before striking a final drive away price.
You should still be able to get good pricing on the car regardless right now especially if the car is on it's way and not been sold and your flexible on certain options as it's highly unlikely there will be one to your liking coming. Also be aware that you will get better pricing if your willing to wait till mid next year to receive it. it's an incentive for waiting for one.

You should be able to get the car driveaway without paying on road costs if your willing to wait. for example, I was quoted 59K driveaway for a 5 door / dsg / leather / sunroof / acc. RRP excluding on road costs is $59190. This was without haggling at all. Just all via email. Approx 12% saving right there.

So why don't you ask your dad to teach you something useful?

I wonder how did you determine that? just out of curiousity.

          • Well, I can guarantee that the figure isn't 99% anymore (not that it ever was). Volkswagen have heavily reduced the number of associations which qualifiy, and also tightened the requirements for the associations which do qualify, as a direct result of these forums.

Anyway, guys, lay off with the beating up on people for asking advice.
It's one thing to make fun at someone for asking a question which is on the first page of the manual. It's another thing for beating up on someone for the questions Man Utd FC has asked. If I weren't in such a "good mood" this morning, I'd be giving out infractions to a few of you....

You are right about receiving good pricing on the car regardless if there isn't any in stock and the next lot to be delivered will most likely won't have the spec I want to order. The wait is long and I have the option to purchase a different car so I think the dealer would want me to purchase the more dearer car.

That's a fantastic deal you got, the car at RRP without on road costs, I should give it a try and ask via email like you did. Getting a deal like that plus corporate discounts would be really nice.

Your sig says 'Fully optioned' - assuming you mean Recaros instead of leather + electric seat (since they're pretty much the only options that are exclusive), then you'd be looking at ~19% discount according to the calculator. Not necessarily unheard of, but given the popularity of the car and the limited availability and long lead times, I think you'd be extremely lucky to find a dealer willing to give you that much discount.

That is true. You won't be able to get away from lct for a highly spec car. Beaware that it's not only lct but also stamp duty increases as well

Yes I want to option the Recaros.

My aim is to get a quote under LCT so I only have to pay half the stamp duty. Once the price hits LCT, even if you have to pay .50 cents for LCT, stamp duty is doubled which takes a huge dent in your pocket. Because corporate discounts don't affect the dealer's profit, negotiating a discount on top of the corporate one, it is possible to get the final price under LCT.

Plus with the more options the car has, the more discount should be offered.

Given you need to keep the driveaway price below about 60k to avoid LCT and the jump in stamp duty in VIC then I think you're in for a rude shock if you want a fully loaded R even without DSG.

Wheels, ACC, Sunroof and Recaros will put you close to that price point after negotiations, if not already over the LCT/5% stamps. Add in SatNav, BT, DynAudio, MDI, RVC and I think you'll need the deal of the century to achieve the target.

                          • Well, best of luck to you in hunting for your deal, but I suspect you will be hunting for a long time.
