I am over ordering Golf R... Ordered 6th of August and was given delivery date of 22nd of January. Without a build date, I am looking at Feb/Mar... Waiting that long is just ridiculous. On the contract it says if they can't deliver within certain time frame of contract, I can get my deposit back.

Its a shame that VW cant supply more vehicles to Oz, resulting in your frustration. I sympathize totally with your dilemma and hope you can find happiness in some other marque.
I myself, could not wait 6 months (or more) for a car, no matter how good it is.

As others have mentioned, I don't really think I could ever wait so long for a car again!

I've said it before but I'll never do this again regardless of how good the car is. I think the only reason I stuck with it is because I'm a stubborn prick though not far off from a padded cell due to the wait hehe.

I think I found being an owner builder less stressful than this....

I was told there was a backlog of 40-50 orders... Not sure if they are all R's, but I am not prepared to wait endlessly without a firm delivery date. I imagine I am not the only one pulling out.

Probably not, but someone will be thankful of people pulling out. Especially if the car is already schedule for product, or even out of production already. Means someone else can get your car and not have a huge wait if they're happy with the spec

I understand the pain people must be going through waiting for their car however now that I have received my car I can clearly see the wait was worth it.

Knowing this won't make the wait any less painful but it's always good to keep the goal in sight.

Well i ordred mine in late June and my R is now on it's way here. Hopefully the wait is all worth it!!

I'd be so happy if someone else with the same specs as mine pulled out! I'd probably be zipping around in the R right now!!!

IS350 is a bloody good looking car though...hmm....and powerful too!

I had a Golf R on order... Now canned that... I would not pay $60k+ for a Corolla, no chance in hell! So same principle applies to the Golf. Loses the appeal and the niche of a quality euro brand.

Even if you were a mechanic and knew how to customise these things.. For $40k over the base car, you could exceed the performance and look of the Golf R without much trouble!!

This is a different argument to M3 and AMG models.. These are premium prices at starting base models. Having the Golf now sit side by side with the Corolla, this is a mass market, all in, sales grab. The car won't be anything special and that will most certainly put downward pressure on all Golf models come trade in.

There are so many great cars coming out over next 12 months, I am more inclined to look elsewhere now. The Range Rover Evoque is right up my alley... That will be money well spent.

Sorry to hear you cant be ****ed waiting for the car anymore. VW will miss out on a sale and I completely understand as I could never do this waiting game thing again myself either.

But dont resort to paying the car out that we all want and are waiting for. I know it must be emotional for you, particularly if you are as stubborn as some of us.

BUT: A performance corolla? Please, stop the hate.
