Agreed. I don't care how cool the motorsports seats look. I find the standard R seats much more comfortable and would save my $2k for other things, such as APR

I know I'm not cool, so no point trying on that front!

        • 2x for the standard seating is fantastic great lumber for my body shape. My only thing I wish the standerd seats had hang on two. I wish they were heated only cause I live in Canberra it gets cold and the second electric memory seating so that I never have to keep changing the settings after test drives lol. .. Yes I already know guys none of the Golf range have memory seating .

The standard seats are comfortable as well, you could save $3.3k!

I can see why you'd like to have it, but I think not having it is the perfect excuse for not letting the missus drive my car! That and the fact "they" don't know where/how to park, stay away from gutters and so forth

Yes I'm sure you've seen the worst of it! You could probably do with dual controls for some demo runs!

Phillip has come up with an awesome deal for me, I highly recommend that anyone in the market for a Volkswagen give him a call.

Specs: 5 door, DSG, Rising Blue, ACC, RNS510+Dynaudio, Leather, Electric driver's seat, MDI, MY11 Bluetooth, Sunroof.

Better to get the area covered with ventureshield instead. More discreet/fitting of a German car than the "loud" chrome/ss sill protectors are.

Wasn't too bad. And given I found 4 spelling mistakes maybe we shouldn't give him too much respect as a journalist.

                          • Personally, I think the Mk6 GTI is a handsome car and quiet an improvement over the previous one. It would have been tough to come up with something even better looking and... Volkswagen did not

unfortunately it did not at the same time understate the price and many people would prefer to advertise the fact that their Golf actually costs as much as a well equipped 3 series BMW.

have not sat in the optional Recaro seats, but at around 5000USD Volks should be heaped on with more shame then a ca. 17th century New England adulteress. You will almost certainly not miss them for that amount of change.
You can have the seats in any color as long as it's black with silver alcantara inserts. The problem with the latter is that they are a very light shade and will quickly get dirty
he space in the back is decent for all bar the tallest passengers. However the boot space is inferior to that of the GTI due to all the 4-Motion gear. The dimensions are the same but it has less depth.

think to decide if this car is for you, one needs first to understand what this car is not. It's not an all-wheel drive banzai wagon despite having similar spec on paper. It's not going to make you laugh out loud on mountain roads. It's not going to have teenage boys drip body fluids on the paintwork (only a handful of dubbers). 95% of people will not think it's anything other then a Golf.

                            Some pretty negatives comments IMO

                            • The R would be more fun when you retune it (hopefully) , something that the magazine articles forget to mention for such an easy fix.

In the first and second paragraphs, IMO he is stating that the R isn't any more handsome than the GTI already is. i.e. It is a handsome car but not much more than the MkVI GTI - which is sort of true. The MKVI GTI design IMO isn't as aggressive as the MKV GTI to begin with - nice but understated. The new R only goes some way to addressing that.

In the 2nd paragraph, as we can't get a specc'd up 3 series here for the same money as the R - the comparison doesn't really apply to us down under.

I agree with his comments on the standard seats - the silver alcantra inserts look naff. And the loss of boot space is also a negative. He tells the truth there.

I read his last paragraph as a positive though, the R isn't meant to be in the same vein as the WRX or Focus - it is meant to appeal to a different class of people. A chipped R will put a big smile on your face.
