I have std leather in my R and these seats are still a little tight for me so could have gone the Recaro's anyway. they do look great. A bugger to get in and out of but comfortable when you are in them.
I'm 6 foot and 95+kgs and love them. I don't find them hard to get in and out of but the leather on the right bottom bolster does start to look worn as you swing your leg/bum over it every time you get in and out.

To keep them looking good you'd have to be concience of them when getting out and try to lift urself out.. Even the standard leather bolsters get worn and creased easily if you're not careful, however mine were still like new after 2 years. could always get them redone i guess.

Have a look at the Golf R Flyer (link in first post of this thread) from the VW Australia site, or available in the dealerships. It says that they are heated.

              Hey White Q
The Motorsport Seats are Heated that is fact. I have felt the heat coming from them my self. I don't have one to look at now cause she is sold and leaves to sunny sydney on thursday to one lucky watercooled person. Have ordered a number of RRRRRRRRRRRRRrRsssss with Motorsport seats though in 3 and 5 door as well as in DSG and Man..

              cheers

                • I went and saw Phillip Fairhall from Gerald Slaven Belconnen today, and after my wife had a test drive to confirm that she's happy with the ride comfort, I'll be putting a deposit on my Golf R tomorrow. Phillip has come up with an awesome deal for me, I highly recommend that anyone in the market for a Volkswagen give him a call.

Specs: 5 door, DSG, Rising Blue, ACC, RNS510+Dynaudio, Leather, Electric driver's seat, MDI, MY11 Bluetooth, Sunroof, RVC.

Is it heresy to put a stainless steel loading sill protector on a Golf R?

                  • On the topic of Leather seats vs. Recaros, I have looked at a lot of pictures online with the 2, I must say, I noticed that the leather on the leather seats seems to stretch quite badly leaving the seats looking old and used in a very short period of time. Does anyone else notice that? I am hoping the Recaros with the "microfibre" centre would have less of that...but I am still undecided between the two.

Fark off LOL! I rang my dealer today and asked if they had a car I can check out. He checked some system and said the only dealer he could find in aus with a car in stock was ACT. I did ask to "borrow" their demo R to go check them out but unfortunately it wasn't possible LOL.

I've now convinced myself that I want them and have to have them...but NOT until I can test them out first. I really hate this place, that $2k could have been spent at APR!

I'd say that is the car posted in earlier posts already purchased. I might have to meet up with that person as my only option. I'm 5'9 and under 70kg so recaros might just be a perfect fit....

Sorry to post that sexy pic, but just looking out for you Dave . Everyone druels over the seats later on and after market prices are ridiculous from spare parts... Considering the standard leather seat aren't 'great' for 3300 i think they are worth the extra. Anyway even if you didn't find them 100% comfortable you would be swap them for stock seats + cash in a heart beat.

Agree, it's quite average for the price and if you're not careful they look crap in a short period of time (i've seen a fair few in various condition).

I would just get a strip of paint protection film applied, basically invisable..

Is this an attempt to get back at me for highlighting that you wish you still had your R32 but replaced it with an R instead of GTI?

But for the record the standard R seats ARE great. The question is if the recaros are better. And there is no chance in hell I'm buying a 60k car to have some monkey swapping seats. The way it comes is the way it stays (except for ECU maybe)!

The only way I had a three door with Motorsport seats is a cancelled order after Pricing came the customer changed mind and colour to fully loaded three door 0with every box ticked.. If your tall the seats no problem if your an ex Rugby Second rower who is as tall as I am wide with the hips to match the seats are quite tight. yet I fit perfectly in my cloth R as well as the leather seats like GTI I used to have. R36 no problem either. I do love the motorsports though. Feel free to take the road trip ( well maybe when you come pick your car up from me lol) I will try and take some pics and get somebody on here to help me post them. I will ask the new owner if he would mind. although I think Whitejames has already taken some sneaky pics before the release of the R and posted them.

Other way around, but no.. Just that the R32 recaros were about 7k, so 5300 seems reasonable..!
