Tyre screaching just means you're not getting maximum grip But don't worry, I'll be using every bit of the R's performance on the way to work let alone anywhere else. If I wasn't then I may as well just get a diesel and some golf pants hehe. Ok thats enough for this w/e...hopefully you guys gimme something entertaining to read on tuesday morning!

Having had an AWD for the last 3 1/2 years and also a Jetta TFSI the feeling when boost kicks in in an AWD when it's wet on a corner is pure bliss, the FWD is fun but nothing beats that AWD kick on loose surfaces

And that is the reason I'll upgrade to an 'R

        +$1900(SUNROOF)+$500(RVC)+270(MDI)+110 (cable)
        =$59310

Thats without any possible stamp duty/LCT cause I dont know how that works.
        Around $56K drive away?

Part of the fun with driving is getting the car decomposed and breaking traction..

I personally prefer the R's 18s though... Wonder how much it would be to get a set on my GTI?

That is not what you used to say when you had the R32 Greg. In fact quite the opposite...

LOL, I did comment about that also. I think we need a seperate thread for the R haters (or maybe they're jealous hehe)

Ok that should ruffle some feathers, back next week
I'd bet that the majority of the R haters will be MkVI GTI owners.

Current order: Golf GTI red - DSG 5 Door + 18" detroits, leather seats, RVC, sunroof, MDI

Change to new order: R blue - DSG 3 Door + sunroof, MDI, RVC.

                      What do you guys think?

Also, what do u guys think the price of the R order would be drive away?

Check out the blue in the "flesh" first - you might find (like I did) that it isn't the best colour for the R.

thanks for the advice. i will check it out in person first. what is the best colour in your opinion?

btw, is the golf R worth the extra $10k i'd have to fork out for the R specs i want?

Coreying is the master at the differences, but yeah Its worth it if you can stretch it and enjoy your cars.

AWD, Bigger turbo, toughened motor, brakes, xenons standard, parking sensors front and rear, daytime lights and those damn sexy rear tails! Plus you can add 19's which I recommend cause you will not find 19's of OEM quality for $1300 WITH RUBBER!!

Same for the GTI, I would definitely get the DETROITS as they look brilliant on the golfs. They look like the 19's on the R for some reason..

PS - not feeling the black 19's.. they look so small

Apologies Dermot, you have always been good the the VWW community ..... other eastern state dealers are far less interested in keeping their customers happy ... or even keeping the customers they already had .... if if only you were in QLD .....

And -dave- how serious do you need to be ? bought a GTI and a Tiguan off these guys previously and had a solid cash deposit down on the R ..... really poor service ....

So, I'll be naming names .... STAY AWAY from AUSTRAL VW ....

EDIT. Oh and REXman, many modified GTIs (both Polo and Golf) are far quicker than a R stock .... not only feeling faster but actually being faster .... if you'd like to come to Brisbane, happy to arrange an introduction to examples of both .... and there are many here for some reason ....

The R32 didn't really have enough power to get it that unsettled, but was fun pulling lateral G's with the suspension mods i had (H&R coilovers, H&R sway bars & semi slicks). The grip was awesome but still understeered a bit.

Hi Sharkie, why don't you pay Highway a visit and as for Andres (acting sales manager). He seemed to suggest yesterday that they will be passing the corp discount onto their customers, no talk of 18 months etc. I bought my R32 from there as well.

An R would be great for $55-58k but not $70k.
