  • 2013 leather GTi seats will they bolt into a 2012 golf

Can anyone comment on the 2013 GTI leather seats. I have been offered some and would like to know if they will bolt into a 2012 golf GTI and also the quality and feel.

    • Are you referring to a 2013 Mk6 GTI? I'm not aware of any updates for MY13 that changed the mount points etc (and I would be very surprised if they had changed), and the mechanics of cloth and leather seats are the same. If you're referring to a Mk7 however... all bets are off.

With respect to the quality and feel... they're the same as the leather in any other Mk6 GTI. The seat material is largely synthetic (maybe only 60% is genuine leather), and isn't of the highest quality, but it depends on your expectations as to whether the Golf "Vienna" leather meets them. Check out a Mk6 with factory leather at a dealership if you want to know what the leather is like. It's a very common option.

      • Golf Trendline seats "office chairs"

The seats weren't selling and then suddenly someone wanted to buy. Asked my dad what he thought.... and he decided to tear out our degrading seats and install these on top instead of selling them. Here are the results. Yes I still have the rear seats open to offers if anyone is interested unless my dad has other plans...

So what do you guys think? Yes those arm things are from the previous now dead chair.
Pretty neat I reckon and also with the G25 it makes racing games pretty fun. Except the seat sorta sits a bit high so I had to raise the pedals from the floor haha

          • Awesome, how stable and comfort are they ?

Converting the rear as a lounge could be a good idea

            • The seat is very comfortable when browsing or watching things or the casual game or using a controller. It is very heavy though so its sort of hard to move around on carpet even with the wheels. Bit hard when I sit up straight to do assignments too since there is no back support unless I pull the chair in which works sort of but not in the normal office chair 90 degree position.

              • Could be a market here.. leather versions with seat warmers for winter would be nice.

                • They look great. For Friday afternoon fun you could hook the airbag up to a 12 volt source & give some one a nice scare whilst drinking their beer!

                  • Worn seat bolsters on GTI

Just wondering whether anyone has found a solution to the issue of worn fabric on the seat bolsters (driver's side particularly) on the Mk6 GTI? Obviously we're talking about cloth and not leather here.

My 2010 GTI with very low kms (40k) is starting to wear through. I'm not a big guy, I just naturally brush past the bolster as I get in and out. It seems pretty poor for a "high traffic" area.

I've searched around various forums and people seem to either be putting up with it or fitting ugly seat covers - or in a few cases getting it fixed under warranty, which is no longer an option for me.

I'm considering buying a spare driver's seat from a wrecker and swapping it over when the time comes to sell. A frayed seat on an otherwise immaculate car is going to hurt resale.

                    Any suggestions?

                    • A frayed seat is also going to fail a roadworthy.
FYI on my Mk4 it wore though at approx 190,000km, cost $350 to have new padding and cover done.

                      • Totally normal and common on a heavily bolstered seat (regardless of whether it is cloth or leather). You can try and change the technique you use to get in and out of the car to reduce/minimise rubbing your body on the seat.

It maybe "normal" but it's not acceptable in my opinion. It wasn't a problem in my Mk5 GTI with the exact same level of use and I don't there's virtually no wear on our family couch which we've had for 10+ years - some creases in the leather but hardly worn.

I'll speak to an auto trimmer and see what they say, might be cheaper to repair rather than replace.

                          • I think it would be pretty easy just the change the Squab its only the lower part of the seat you require , Ask your dealer for a discount because of the premature wear .

Own a Mk 6 103Tdi 2009, with a standard interior- have sourced a set of front and rear Mk 7 golf seats that are leather. just want to know if I could put them into my mk6 with no issues, just bolt right in- don't want to modify anything.
                              Any help would be appreciated.

                                Hi guys,

I recently purchased a MK6 Golf R with leather seats. I am wondering if anyone can assist with some queries please:

                                1. Do all golf R’s fitted with leather seats come as electric motorised lumber etc?? (I previously had an R32 with leather seats (the same looking seats) and they had motorised lumber adjustment)
                                2. If the leather seats come with motorised lumber, mine are not working. I have checked the cable connections and fuses and all appears in order. Has anyone else experienced this ??

The electric seat heaters are working fine.

Any help, assistance or direction on where to look is appreciated.

                                Thanks

                                M
