  • I haven't seen these sport pack seats, could you post a photo?

As for the seat replacement, i reckon you should upgrade the front and rear seats to mk6 GTI ones that I did. Cost me $500 + $250 (excellent condition only 3000km) shipping if you can be patient until a private set pops up... but I see wreckers selling them for around $1000-$1500.

    • this isnt my car but the inside is the same trim as this.
the design is fairly similar to the GTI seats

Im not sure, but ive heard the golf leather seats have more adjustments?
Im on the lookout for some replacement seats, but i cannot find any on ebay
maybe im looking in the wrong spot

      • Exactly what about them causes issues? To tight in the backrest? seat cushion to hard/soft/short? Not enough lumbar support? What I am getting at is can you get the current seats modified?

See if this gives you any ideas

          • I still have my <1000Km seats from my tdi.

they definitely are sport... but I thought we would've had the same seats? They have lumbar support for the back. You can try it out if you come down to sydney some time.

            • Hi there
the issues I have with the seat are the following
the Left hand side of the drivers seat "feels" lower than the right hand side of the seat, this makes me feel like I am leaning towards the center of the car.
Also when i lean back on the seat when I am sitting flat, my right shoulder hits the back rest about 2CM before my left side hits.
I think my back is killing me because when i am sitting on the seat, i am trying to correct for this.
Ive got no issues after driving a Mazda 2 down to Sydney and back, and ive got a MX5 which does not have this problem either.
I really get the feeling when I take it to the dealer, they will sit in it for 5 minutes and say there is nothing wrong

              • Im in Newcastle and are welcome to come and sit in my Golf R seats (factory leather seats) and see what you think if you like. Personally i find them very comfortable.

Just to double check - you arent sitting on the seats with your wallet or other similar items in your back pocket are you? A silly question possibly, but i know alot of guys do it.

So the dealer hasn't declined a warranty claim yet?

It sounds like you are putting the cart before the horse.

When I was working in dealerships we replaced a number of seats under warranty. Weird things wrong with them such as the squab being twisted horizontally or collapsed on one side or the seat rails not being aligned or the backrest being twisted.

All unique & very odd problems & we had no idea how they occured at the factory.

Tolerances weren't as tight back then so sometimes you just had to unbolt the seat & twist it or remove carpet that was trapped underneath.

                    • Hi again
So I took it to the dealer, and they've asked me to take it back on the 18th so they can take the seat covers off and have another look.
One of the technicians sat in it, and didnt think it was that different, but when i sat in another golf they had around there, i was 100% sure that my car does slouch towards the centre of the car.
ive judged it by simply having my arms extended out towards the steering wheel, and leaning backwards,
In my car my right shoulder hits first, but in any other car ive got, my shoulders hit evenly.
Its not like I want a new seat or anything, i just was wondering if they can sort of twist it back into shape ha!

                      • Have you taken measurements from a known datum in the full forward, full back & midpoint on your car & other examples? It only needs to be 5mm wrong & you'll feel like you are twisted up like a pretzel.

                        • Lol, no I haven't done measurements yet
I might get a straight edge out, and put it across my passenger seat and drivers seat and see if theres a obvious gap on one side
and then compare that to the MX5

                            That's a bit pointless.

measure your own car then measure a similar Mk6.

your goal is to help the warranty manager justify a replacement seat.

                              • Hi
Ended up buying some new leather golf R seats
Just got a little issue, The Seatbelt warning is the same, the airbag clip is the same, but the heated seats plug is not part of my car.
Instead of wiring them in properly, i was thinking, is it possible for me to hook up a 12 Volt battery so I can adjust the lumbar support?
