MDI niggles

Is 10 speakers stock or is it 8?
I thought i saw on my order form that i have the RCD 510 but i thought the 310 was standard?

RCD310 is standard for Trendline and Comfortline Golfs.
RCD510 is standard for GTI, GTD, and R.

Update - after an hour and half wait took mechanic 5 minutes to verify that my IPOD MDI lead was the problem, changed and all ok now!!

I did tell them but they had to check!!

I have a Mark V which has two extra speakers in the front doors.

Mark VI has 8 total. Mark VI GTI comes with the RCD 510, other models the RCD 310.

My ipod plus the cable fits in the armrest console quite easily. They are the small usb + ipod cables (you plug either one in depending on what you're using, not one into the other with the retrofit kit).

I have noticed there are gaps between the tracks now though whereas with the old MDI (& RNS510) i had there wasn't. Any explanation on this? Could be a different MDI module or the new version of the RCD510?

In the Albums view, if i hit play on an album without going into the songs folder it usually plays the 2nd track??

Works fine except for the minor bugs listed on this thread.

No, the VW head units don't support Album art. I can live without it but the Alpine HU's show it if you're into that kind of thing.

not on the vw units...i mean on the iphone itself because i know some units when u plug iphone u just see "vw" sign on the iphone so does this happen also with this MDI...when you plug in your iphone 3 g do you still see and can u still fully control iphone itself? launch gps make phone calls text so on....? otherwise i d just use aux port if u cant

yep, the iphone displays the art work and you can fully use the phone while connected via MDI.

Nope, it's an extra $90-ish. You need to purchase it from the dealer.

eeerr Im sure it should be somewhere around for a lot less... dont see 90ish as an accepteble price for $3 cable ))) found them on eBay for 20-30 US only but still looking
