MDI niggles

It is the default cable on the retrofit MDI kit i thought.

Just get one from the dealer or OEMPL.US in the US if you want to wait ages and may save 10 bucks.

Ps. does anyone have a factory fitted MDI (in the armrest) that does work without pauses/gaps with an ipod/iphone??

Nope, it's an extra $90-ish. You need to purchase it from the dealer.

I'm sure I've read (and have been told by my dealer) that the MDI->USB cable is a standard inclusion. I'm at work so can't dig up proof at present, but I'm 99% sure that's the case.

After all - the MDI is literally useless without a cable, as it uses its own proprietary interface. Selling the MDI and not bundling at least one type of cable (or making the price premium very obvious) would be fairly dodgy in my opinion.

The MDI > iPod/iPhone cable is an optional extra which is around $90 from your dealer.

I paid for the MDI and only got the iPod connector

Well, that's pretty good of your dealers that they're willing to swap the USB cable for the iPod cable. But one of them is meant to come with the car. In Australia that's the USB cable, but is obviously some flexibility with some dealers

I think that's fair unless you get the iPod cable for free but would be better to have both.

Mine is in next Tuesday, I personally think its the lead - hopefully they have one in stock to do a straight swap!?!

Yep faulty lead, was replaced under warranty. Ipod is working 100% again

yep, the iphone displays the art work and you can fully use the phone while connected via MDI.
