Do the people who are having this problem tend to do the same or are most of you just slapping the accelerator to the floor like you would in slushbox?
    Nope,
Eased out from the intersection. Nothing, then mashed it, still nothing.

    • It was my R that was taken back about 6 weeks ago for the above problem. I was told that a software update was applied and " see how it goes". This on a background of repeated events as described above and having had it back to the dealer twice before.
I can happily say that I have not had the problem once since and the vehicle has covered about 7000ks..........very happy and a bueatiful car!!!!!

      • Hey benjmin, that's the kinda feed back we like to hear

Do you have any information on the software update? Did they tell you a name or a version? Is it written on the "service report" etc?
Also, are you comfortable saying what dealer you visited? Sometimes it can be a case where one dealer is aware of a solution and another dealer isn't - so it can help if forum members have a service dept they can call to discuss with.

        • Be interested to see what they did. My car is booked in next week to have all the rattles and creaks fixed up as after 7000km's it has finally driven me nuts. Door trim/pillars aren't so bad but RHS rear window trim does the driveway creak while cruising!

But today, the DSG did the neutral rev thing again. It's ****ing dangerous! I was turning right from a T-Intersection across 3 lanes of traffic and the thing just started revving its tits off. Low speed, moderate throttle input (ie not mashed to the boards) and all of a sudden not moving. Will have to get them to check that as well but it's one of those can't experience/see it so mustn't be happening...

That's what they said about mine re: engine stalling/ DSG revving out/rough idle/misfire. Still does it!

I hope they fix it for you Dave, as you say it's bloody dangerous, fingers crossed i've still only had the issue once but hearing cases like yours gets me a bit worried.

              • I had my 7500km service today (actually 8600!) apparently they reset my transmission control module and checked the ECU, my mechatronic ID is L36G0796 which is later than the affected range? After roadtesting they couldn't replicate the neutral incident, so will wait and see!

After experiencing the exact same problem VW replaced my mechatronic unit ( I am told this is a $4500 job). The difference since has been amazing, I actually have confidence in turning right across the path of oncoming traffic now.

                  • You've got a MKV Golf though. There were a whole host of other issues experienced by DSGs of that generation. Current reports are that this issue in MK6 Golfs are resolved by a software update.

Still got the shudder in reverse gear and when I accelerate whilst already moving in 2nd gear
We had our 45,000km service last week and the DSG was flashed for the 2nd time. It has reduced the shudder, (severity and occurences) but it is still there.
Really need to take it back to them I suppose.

I was happy to discount it as the first few times were under full throttle, full lock and TC/DSC going nuts. But recently I've had some old man moments just cruising while listing to AM radio and it has still had the issue so can't let it go now. The other DSG quirks don't bother me as you can drive around them so to speak.

See what happens when I take it in!

Hope you are right that software will fix the prob but the symptoms are identical to what I experienced.

                            • See what??? They told me the same thing and it still happens. It's been in numerous times since the first occurrence and yet. Nothing. The reflash may or may not work. It would depend on what the issue is.

Mines going back in for rattle when in neutral and a shudder in 1/2.

And Corey, just because one car was fixed by the reflash doesn't mean all will be. Like I said, mine was reflashed by the dealer, yet it still happens.

                              • Aren't you driving a 118TSI? Different car, different gearbox.

Dave_R is driving an R, benjmin is driving an R. I think the feedback of other R owners is more relevant in this situation than MKV GTI or 7sp DSG drivers.

Also, your comment can be said the other way. Just because one car was fixed by a mechatronics replacement doesn't mean they all will be. There are plenty examples of that in this thread and elsewhere on the forums.

In any case, I never said that it couldn't be a mechatronics issue, was just pointing out to people who've just popped their head into the thread that this issue has been identified by numerous R owners and the dealers are aware and have a software solution for the R's DSG (which is slightly diff to other 6sp DSGs as it's for AWD use) and forum members are reporting it is working successfully - it's the first step.
