Feel luck for u, Big_e and me ordered from same dealer but don't why both of us wait that long. coz i checked for order info about the R's buyer from this dealer before(checked from this post), all of them can received around 6 mths. Let me confuse why we are so bad luck. For your case, I think maybe your spec is already pre-order by someone else before your walk in, then they can put u in the line quicker. Anyway, if I need to wait that long, I thinking cancel my deal and find sth similar spec car in stock, thinking can i do that for the late delivery coz they don't put the delivery date on the contract (my bad~) What can I do?

They won't put delivery date on the contract. They can't commit. I've been told that there could be manufacturing delays, shipping delays or even custom delays. They won't put themselves on the line.

If you cancel your order the most you can lose is the $1000 deposit you put down. I'm sure you have signed that cooling off period doc.

I don't mind waiting because I'm always busy. I don't have time to think of the car.

pretty true u said, unless they already get stock or knowing one is producing then they willing put the word into contract. Ok, let's wait and see, I am not hurry to get the car as well just feel stress when see someone else can getting them on the track like u, hehe

Just make sure you check for your state... in NSW the most you can lose is 5% of the vehicle sale price, which for an R is about $3000! Also, the cooling off period only applies if you bought the car under finance from VW, and it only lasts until 5pm of the day after you sign the contract.

That's interesting you should mention that, cavinsoo because my contract has an 'Estimated Delivery Date' and a clause for "Delays in Delivery" It basically states that if the delivery is delayed by more than 14 days from that date, the Purchaser may terminate the contract. It's a little vague beyond that point, not stating whether 'the date' is the same as the 'estimated delivery date' or that the purchaser is entitled to any monies already paid to the seller.

Obviously contracts differ from state to state and dealer to dealer. However ideally, they should protect the buyer as much as the seller. The seller has to make some commitment to deliver a vehicle. Otherwise it's like writing a blank cheque. Holding you to a contract that realistically might never be fulfilled or at least, not being fulfilled in a timely manner.

Was 10 minutes from dealer on way to collect car when received a call to say the sales dept had forgotten to list my car into the PD DEPT to have it prepped for delivery! Sat nav could not be installed in time . Told them I was happy to take as was and that I would drop it back Monday for them to finish off but their GM said he wasn't happy to let it go in an unprepared state. No probe. NOW I get a free iPhone cable and full tank of gas. In retrospect, not concerned, WOULD rather get it as I want it to start my VW love affair again!
So now I pick up at 1300 on Monday.

Picked up my Golf today and it only has 1/4 of a tank of petrol. Is this normal? I was pretty disappointed but is my expectation too high?

you should ask for it in the 1st place, when I pick up my car they gave me only 1/2 tank then I let them know the Salesperson promise full tank, they bring the car back inside and refill it full

Just picked up my R today! those 1.5 days will seem very very long... tomorrow night you'll be telling yourself to go to sleep sooner so friday comes faster

You'll get there, not long to go. The delivery process was very thorough, much better handover than BMW did for my last car. Very happy with everything although I need to get the headrest adjusted properly, I feel like it's too far forward and keeps hitting my head. Noticed on the test drive and it's not a huge problem, but it's the only minor imperfection...
