Well its good to see something positive has arisen from the issue I faced. I didn't mean to open a can of worms, but it looks like since my post everyone seems to be checking their cars which is great. I'm really happy now with the outcome. After looking through a few photos I now love the Carbon Grey, and I now get a free sunroof. I am a huge believer in things happen for a reason. Biggest issue for me is the extra month wait. Oh well, I've waited this long, what's an extra month.

Yep good colour choice The grey variants look awesome on the Golf's hence the reason I ordered United Grey for my R! A sunroof was a must have for me after test driving a GTI with one. So much nicer with that extra ambience the natural light gives into the cabin through the roof.

Hey that is a good outcome.. as for not getting black.. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

The Black is available on all GOLFs, even the base 77TSI. The CSG colour is a GTI only colour. So no-one that knows what they are talking about will ever confuse your car with a base model!

Unless you were chasing a sleeper look, nothing lost here I reckon.

One of my mate was at South Yarra VW a couple of months ago and took a pic of a CW R with specs highly similar to yours!
Recaros, RNS510, black 19"....etc

Thats the only saving grace here, I know I got an amazing price so the trade off is the wait!!

PS yeah that CW R was in there when I bought mine. It's the whole reason why I specced my car the way I did, I was inspired by that one in the showroom! Brett Tells me it has sold now, such a hot looking car. Actually, I took pics of it as well, It's the one that you see in my avatar

Hi guys,
After almost 8 months of "should I or should't I" I got some balls and decided to get a new GTI.
Decided on
Black, Dsg, 18" Detroit, leather, sunroof.

Hearing the long waits I took a stab at finding out if any Sydney metro dealers had any on the floor.
Was in luck! A car had just arrived in the dealers holding yard, but had no home to go to after the original orderer couldn't get finance sorted.

But this car had park assist too. Thinking it was Christmas and I did t want to wait till June, I snapped her up. Pick her up on the first week of January! Can't wait!

Just adding my two cents...and joining the throngs of impatient Dubbers waiting for a seemingly common letter of the alphabet to arrive...ordered on 23/12/10, advised should be delivered around June 2011. 3DR, all the bells & whistles less Recaro's...trading my existing weapon (FPV F6-310) to go back to the world of pocket rockets! At least I have a new Tig to tide me over until then!!!

Paul I ordered the same spec, 3 door with all the fruit minues the recaros.. After 6 months I'm sort of wishing I ponied up and got the recaros now! Just keep telling myself they'd be no good for long hihway drives...

Interesting Angry...we seem to be in the same situation in regards to waiting for vehicles, as well as havving nearly EXACTLY the same taste in cars!!! I got my Tig and need to wait 6 months for the R, whereas you're about to get your R and have to wait 6 motnhs for your Tig!

Yeah, Recaros...bloody difficult question that one, IMHO the hardest decision to make on that particular vehicle, every other option just makes sense (mostly). I'm still not convinced that the leather option is better, and have tried to convince myself of the same fact that I'll be doing 500+ km's a week of mostly highway driving, so leather is the SENSIBLE option. Problem is, I'm not normally known for being sensible! Adds +1 Weapon Factor for Recaros me thinks.
