Nope. On sales contract, it says estimated end Mar/2011. Odds are low that this will happen without a build date sometime in Jan 2011 which means it should be known now.

The angst is that no one knows what should be the proper ETA.

I suspect we are seeing orders abandoned/cancelled by some folks due to the long delays - beyond 30 days after ETA you can get out of contract scot-free.

Yep mines arriving 31/12/2010 in Melb so we are not far apart! I was checking the tracking site almost every few hrs once I got word my R had finished production. It was a sweet day when it finally came up on the tracking site almost 3 weeks later! Now the R is on the way to Freo so not long now! The excitement is starting to get to fever pitch yet again! lol

My contract does not even specify any estimated time, it just says TBA. I'm happy to receive the car in February/March.

April will be pushing it as I require the car for work as well and in the meantime I'll use whatever means necessary to get around.

What would be nice is a confirmation of a build date regardless of how far in the future it will be, this will help with planning if I should get a temp car in the meantime or otherwise then decide if the $1000 cancellation fee is worth paying.

I supposed - but that's not what I am looking to do. I do want what I ordered.

Just observing that it's all in a mess. The waits are long and some abandoned orders gets snapped up by other buyers willing to accept the specs even if it is not exactly what they would have ordered.

Not sure if VW has created a its own headache with too many complications such as dealer allotment, factory build run, etc...and some gaming in this system to police.

I wonder if the bad weather ie: the very heavy snowfalls seen across Europe is affecting delivery times now to get the cars from the factories inland to the ports?

There wasn't an ETA on the contract when you signed it? :S Dunno how that's gonna work in regards to the 30-day not delivered after the due date thing.

I hope something happens for your order, waiting for a confirmed build slot is not fun. You know what you can do? Ask your salesman for a screenshot of the NADCON data for your order.

Having said that, I wouldn't be too optimistic of a Feb/March delivery if that's what you're hoping as VW hasn't allocated a build slot yet.

I recently had my build date confirmed this month and after taking into account shipment, compliance e.t.c., it'll get here 2nd week of March the earliest (shipping from Germany in Jan).

I do have one question which someone might be able to shed some light on - on the NADCON print out, it says the model is a 5K19V3 - which from what I've googled, it's a 5 door, so does this mean I'm getting 5 door for a 3 door price?

TBH I signed mine without a date in place.. which shows there is delivery date.. which means If he is nice, and he genuinely needs a car sooner, there should be no problems getting the cancel happening. Someone else will snap it up, a lot sooner than most other cars.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I ordered my GTI late October with an ETA of Februaru listed (was realistically expecting april/may). I just heard back from my VW dealer (who followed up with stock control) saying expected delivery time is June / July...

Ouch, that is BS man. If it makes you feel any better, it's all stab in the dark until they can lock in a build date for your order.

Well I got a call from my dealer on Friday. It was bad news. The VW factory delivered the wrong car. It didn't have all the options I requested. It was missing the Bi Xenon lights, Park Assist and Bluetooth. So here I was all excited, ordered back in July and was tracking the car expecting a Jan pickup only to receive a call detailing this ridiculous stuff-up. Dealer advised me that everything was fine from their end, but the factory just didn't do their job.

So I was left with a couple of options:
1. Get the dealer to re-order the car and wait till Jun 11 for delivery (In other words wait a year to get my hands on this car)
2. Select from a range of other cars that are is Aust with the options requested and get delivery sooner.

So from this I did select one from the range, but it was Carbon Grey, not Deep Black and it had a sun roof, something I did not want. Dealer came back to me today and said that VW said that they would take $550 off the sunroof, so at the end of that I was expected to pay extra for my car even though it wasn't my mistake.

Told him I would call back in 15min. Went away and let off some steam, then called back and just let loose. A bit of an insult to say "Here we found a replacement, different colour, but we'll do you a favour and only charge you $1,350 for the sun-roof." To cut a long story short the venting of anger worked somewhat and they agreed to charge me the same price as my origianl purchase and not charge me for the sunroof. So only change to my original order is the colour, and quite happy with this in fact plus now I get a free sunroof. But still a little peeved that they would think dropping off a few $$ would keep me happy.

Only issue now the car is in Melbourne, waiting for compliance in the new year, and then it has to be shipped over the Perth. So to all the others out there waiting, maybe just check in with your dealer to see if all is fine. Not the Xmas surprise I was after.
