220 - Good effort, would have taken a while to wind up to that I imagine. On mine it took a full 8 seconds longer to get from 141kph to 192kph without APR1. See Speed runs compared.Originally posted by cwcarruthers View PostI've seen 220 (just) - stock 118TSI. I'd imagine with the APR tune you'd go higher, given enough tarmac. As for 0-100, it's always felt faster than the quoted 8secs, but I haven't timed it. Do you know what yours did prior to putting in APR?
7.6 Stock is what I got so a little under 8.0.Golf Mk6 118 TSI DSG |APR Stage I ECU Upgrade | HEX-USB+CAN

Well, sort of..... VW US put the new EA888 engine (cam chains) into their Mk V GTI ages ago, so they have had the "new" engine for quite a while. So yes, their Mk 6 has the same engine as their later Mk Vs, but it is the same engine as we get in Oz in the Mk 6.Originally posted by Mk6 GTI View Post.............And i think that the US version still has the mk5 engine?? :|
Note that the Golf R and Audi S3 still get the old (cam belt) engine (ie the same as in the Mk V Pirelli and UK Edition 30 models). I don't know when VW will get around to doing a hi-po version of the EA888 engine. From what I read it has more tuning potential than the old engine, so I don't know why they haven't doen it yet (maybe there is a problem that they haven't solved yet ? ).2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

ohh ok that makes sense.. though there GTI only gets 200hp like our versionof the MK5, thats what lead me to beleive it was the old engine..Originally posted by gregozedobe View PostWell, sort of..... Never thought about that.. Very good point!
I would love if somebody tested it with the right gear.. Very curious!2010 5 DR MK6 GTI|DSG|CARBON STEEL|18" DETROIT|ACC|BI-XENON|LEATHER|SUNROOF|DYNAUDIO|SATNAV|MDI|PREMIUM BT|TINTS|EXTENDED WARRANTY| In garage

Motor magazine managed 6.52 to 100, and 14.58 for the quarter (they use a vbox to do their acceleration testing). These times were for a 5 door with DSG, ACC and 17s; they didn't specify if launch control was used, but by omission I presume not. Out-accelerated the 3 MPS it was up against, despite a 35kw deficit.Originally posted by Mk6 GTI View PostNever thought about that.. Very good point!

WHEELS January 2010 issue
0-100 7.16 and 15.02 quarter for GTI
6.9 and 14.77 for # MPS
They add "These are the quickest times we have achieved in a GTI, by only 0.1sec to the metric ton, but fully ).4 sec over 400metres."
Comments were against their best in a Mk V GTIYou know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

These were my results back from November - it's a manual transmission, but a good benchmark.

The manual definitely sounds slower (harder to launch, slower shifts) than the DSG based on the times I've seen quoted, and descriptions from drivers.Originally posted by Highlander View PostWHEELS January 2010 issue

Guy's comments back up the assessment that a manual is harder to launch.Originally posted by Guy_H View PostThese were my results back from November - it's a manual transmission, but a good benchmark...
BTW Guy, those times you quote were achieved in very hot conditions; presumably a nice cool day (say sub-20 degrees C) would yield much better times, all else being equal?2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG
