  • If it were me I'd just get it fixed as cheaply as possible and see if you can get them to pay the bill. It's not really much damage and it seems to be limited to the bumper only.
All they need to say to the insurance company is "we know nothing" and you'll be on your own. From there your only chance of recovery is through letters of demand and maybe the small claims court.
You might want to take some photos of the coinciding damage to their car just in case.

It's a shame but damage to bumper bars is inevitable when you have old people around. There's an old chook up the road that I watch touch parking all the time. Reverse until the car hits the kerb (crunch on the mag), drive forwards until you hit the car in front( gentle touch) and then slam into the car parked behind. Sometimes she even clips the corner of the front car while reversing in.
Somehow I think her response is the same when confronted by the neighbors. "Oh no, I didn't notice".

    • I just got off the phone with 'touchupguys'.
I sent a pictures and the quote is $300.00.
Just waiting for my neighbours to come home and I will let them know and see.

I don't think I will even bother to run around try to get other quotes from panel beaters for this one.
If I didn't know who done it, it would piss me off but something I would try to live with till such time or such opportunity where secondary damage was bad enough that it warranted a full fix or repair.

As for my neighbours, I don't believe that they are the type who will deny their wrong doing.
(Never know when there's monetary issues involving but I am a self confessed 'hopelessly optimistic'.)
Also, they seen me with my tape measure point by point report matching damages and paint marks with pictures to my car and their car.

      LOL... 'touch parking'
No offence to oldies because my parents are oldies and I will be one sooner or later.
It's kind of annoying at best and scary at it's worst...

Now, I just need some assurance and wise advise going with 'touchupguys' or any other recommendation?

          • I got it fixed!^^

It was done by 'touchupguys' and what a great job my guy did.
It was no touch-up, rather full on.

First guy who gave me quote of $300.00 could not make it because I had to take my car to be fixed with natural lights and power was bit too far for him.
So, the guy who would come to where my car gave me a quote $330.00.
This $30.00 difference is debatable as GST was not mentioned with the first one..... Not that it should be ambiguous when asked of a price of the job or a quote.

It started at 11am and finished about 2pm and not drive it for further couple of hours.
I gave 2 hours of drying time and I drove it home.
The whole colour match and finish is brilliant and the guy who did the job was excellent except he was late about an hour for my appointment. (I didn't mind because I was in no rush and things can happen in one's life every now and than...)
I got him coffee/yummy biscuits at the start and another coffee/apple in the afternoon.
Hope, he wasn't ravenous at the end.

Already gave my copy of invoice to my neighbour and got paid so, I am happy.

              • Mine was at 5,000km.... careless guys at tyre shop scratched the heck out of my wheels (+ covered the interior with grease)

                • Here are some pictures for after the fix.
I am sorry for yucky pictures. I am one of those who can not take good pictures...
Poor lighting and some smudged looking reflection of myself but I can assure you that I am happy with the finish. (some black bits on the front panel bits are just some bits that need to be washed...)
Yap, over due for washing but that will do for the now.)

                  • Mine lasted a year and 6 months before some &^%$#^& slammed their WHITE door into my BLACK car. :'(

I took it into Parramatta Smash for a quote but the guys buffed out the white marks and pointed me in the direction of a dent repairman. $80 and 30 mins later it was good as gold!

Apart from that, I'm coming up to 2 years in 4 days and no significant damage yet!

If he went anywhere near Parramatta Smash, he already needs a respray .....

                        • Not my first damage - but a few weeks back i managed to gutter rash both my passenger side rims on a protruding gutter in a carpark. I was sooooo pi$$ed off.

It wasnt too bad - the front rim had damage about 1cm x 1cm, while the rear rim was about 1cm x 5cm.

Had them repaired yesterday by a mobile repair guy who does work at the dealership my brother works at, and they look 100%. Colour match is perfect (they only painted the damaged area) and the scratch marks are all gone. There is some slight overspray on the rest of the rim which ill tidy up with my clay bar this weekend - otherwise im very happy. $100 well spent.

I made it nearly 30,000km (a little under a year) on my mk6 candy white golf gti without any damage.

                            UNTIL THIS:

Bugger! I've had this happen to me as well (at a small independent with a good rep), with a brand-new set of rims. I ended up just giving up and vowing never to go back, but a part of me wishes I'd taken it further.

                              • 3mm deep x 20cm long scratch on my rear bumper and some scuffing, car vs. bricks (my fault, grumpy as can be with myself!).. Quote by Smart Finish, scratch n dent repairers for $250... Guessing that's reasonable as I was thinking $200-300.
