Adaptive cruise control is in my order at $2000. I think the benefits are worth it, but it is top price IMO.

Is anyone able to get confirmation if the GTI builds from June/July onwards will have this as an option?

As most of us ordering GTI's now wont get ours till after this date, it makes sense to be asking now if its going to be avaliable?

Dencar, did you by any chance see if the GTD had LED Taillights as an option too?

Just to respond to one of Klaus / Dubya's accusations now that he's not here to drag this thread into the dirt - here is a link to an old article which states VW Australia were concerned of the impact the GTD would make to the GTI sales.

Volkswagen Australia has yet to decide whether to import the Golf GTD 15 June 2009

That isn't the article I recall though - since I don't read goauto - but since it's all history in the first place, I see no need to say anything more on the subject.


The point of this thread is, it's great news that Volkswagen Australia have decided to bring the GTD here. Although it's not really a car I would chose to buy, I have several family and friends that would be seriously interested in the GTD

I haven't enquired about LED lights, but would be interested. My dealer says he will email me the specs when released next week. I'll publish them if no-one beats me to it.

Ok, here's the drum. GTD media launch in June, on-line expressions of interest from mid-April. No base price yet, but options as for the GTI. It will have XDL, which is the good news, the bad news being no adaptive cruise control option. It will be 5-door only with either manual or DSG transmission. Paint range as per GTI. RCD510. Headlight washer cut-outs whether bi-xenons or not. No idea when individual orders will be delivered. Wish they'd hurry up.

Metallic Paint/Pearl Effect $500 (though I've seen some reports of this still being $700... I'm sure that is just an oversight though)

Rear View Camera (RVC) $500
Park Assist and RVC $1900
Tinted Windows - Dark Side and Rear $400

Electronically Adjustable Drivers Seat $600 (only with leather)
Leather Upholstery - Vienna $3300
Media Device Interface (MDI) $270
RCD510 (Std) with Dynaudio Excite 300W Premium Audio System $1300
RNS510 Satellite Navigation $2500

And yes, it's 5 door manual and DSG only.

Just two corrections from my info to what coreying says. Metallic paint is $700 and the GTD will be offered in 5-door form only with a choice of six-speed manual or DSG transmission.
