So I've been reading and has someone gotten around to doing the dancing needles on their 118tsi?

My car will be arriving soon, so excited about it

My 118TSI was built in Apr 2010. The Staging channel is not available for this. Neither is a lot of other nice features mentioned in this forum such as auto sunroof closing and footlights with headlights on. Disappointed. Wonder if this is available in later model TSI's?

ctan - my 118TSI is a MY10 but the delivery date is 1 Sep 09 - and the auto window close and footwell lights work on my car - so not sure what the story is with yours.

Ryan,I am referring to auto window close by the rain sensors not the auto window close with remote key. I am also referring to footwell lights with headlights on. The MFD setting allows me to adjust the footwell lights now but soon as you close the door and drive the footwell lights go off.

I am referring to both those items as well (I didn't describe it too great).

Ryan, I interesting. I am going to get some screen dumps so you can see. Then we can compare VAG numbers. Maybe there is hope.

Ryan, You are right. I did not click on the correct byte. Yep the options are there. Thanks for confirming it works on yours. However I can't get the dancing needle to work. My VAG Number for 17-Instruments is 5KD 920 870 F.

Maybe it's a 'sport' branded Golf thing (GTI, GTD, R). My build week is too early for me in any case.

A patten on what works and what doesn't

Apparently not all "D" type clusters work, my cluster part number starts with "5K0" and ends with a "D" (instead of "5K6" like most people who got it working) and it doesn't work for me (channel not available).

I think the clear pattern is that all "5K0" clusters definitely do not support staging out of the box, but apparently this guy somehow hacked his cluster and got them to work: active needle sweep function on the cluster of 2010 vw golf 6 1.4tsi - YouTube

On his channel he appears to have done this to a few other models as well (for different VW cars), from what I understand from his english he claims to have opened the cluster and reprogrammed it somehow. (notice how his sticker is ripped)

                        Hope that helps.

Does anyone know if it is possible to reverse the dancing dials if you need to take it back to the dealer for warranty?

The local dealer says that warranty is void if there is something wrong with the dash
