VCDS / VAG-COM settings to make GTI needles dance upon ignition

Can you turn off the Xenons through the Vagcom? Apparently they are always on to be used as DRLs but I don't really want them on during the day...

I think so. Maybe even the same way as the regular DRL's (without VAG COM). As i dont have them though i wont know til i play with the codes.

Update: just received my car and the dealer had managed to change the coding and now I have sweeping needles!!! The guy from service has also disabled the Bi Xenons so they are not on during the day time! Now I'm a very happy/proud owner of my GTI!

Update: I think my leaving home function isn't working... Coming home works but headlights won't stay on after I turned off the ignition. Will observe it for a few more days before I go in to the dealer

Its the operation, read the manual, its different to the MK V's and i believe it needs to be activated before you lock the car for it to work.

Simply turning it on does not turn it on.

You have to flick the high beam before you exit the car to activate COMING HOME each time

Thanks for the information Lams, didn't really understand the manual at first but now I think I do =D. Will give it a try tonight and see how it goes. However I have another question, this time about the cornering fog lights. I have realized that the corresponding fog light does not lit up when I turn the vehicle. The manual states that it can be activated in the Assistant mode in the MFD but mine only says Bend Lighting, which is already enabled. I suspect this Bend Lighting refers to the adaptive Bi Xenons and not the fog lights?

Fog light cornerng needs to be activated in VAG COM. I believe that the Xenons have got cornering built into the units.

TBH its pretty good, but im gonna turn it off again as it doesnt make any sense for the type of driving i do.

The bi-xenon 'bend lighting' is great, noticed it in some dark streets when i was turning the wheel and it's a feature i'd want to leave on.
Dont know what fog cornering is or does.

steve, some other thread mentioned about auto closing of the sunroof when rain is detected, can you do it on the vag com?

Just tried it in my R36 12/10 build and no joy. It just comes up as unavailable.
