VCDS / VAG-COM settings to make GTI needles dance upon ignition

I asked my dealer and he said he should be able to do that for me. But I dunno my build week, only know it's built during Jan this year. Can mine still do it?

OK, i just tried it, the setting is there in the adaption menu, i set it to active but its not doing the sweep thing.

My car is a week 51 2009 build.

so the - 17 instruments >> 10 adaption >> staging - instructions, I'm assuming they're menu titles in the car dash? i realise that sounds like a totally noob question, but just wanted to confirm it.

No, u need a vag-com cable

and a laptop to change some hidden configuration settings.

OK, I got it, double checked everything, turns out i had to do the following to get it to work.

Change the setting.
Close Vag-Com software
Unplug cable
remove key from ignition
lock car
unlock car
key in ignition
turn on car.
sweepy goodness.

It looks like clusters 5K6 920 870 D and 5K6 920 970 H will activate. I have the latter in mine.

Basically go to the Instruments Section (17) There you should see under Controller info VAG Number...



Then Click on Adaptation and drop down to "Staging"

Set Staging to "Active" and click Do It!




Its a 2 minute job if u know where to look.

Im happy to code it for you if your dealer cant along with a few other things that can be done.

Hi all, does anyone know if this works for Current model passats? yes i know this is a golf forum, but I have just tried and it said the service not installed, my instruments are version F, (not sure what the number was) I have just also seen it on Passat CC's from the states.... I want mine to do it

Just went into the dealer, the guy from service said that the 10 Adpatation bit doesn't tell him the channel and he might not be able to find it...

Yeah, their VAS System is different to VAG-COM, and i gues a bit more "locked-down" to only do the things that VW australia want them to do.

I have a pretty good relationship with my service dept and they couldnt do any of the things i wanted...

From what i have read up on, its Mk VI GT's built after week 45 2009 that can have it activated. If u tried it and it doesnt work then chances are its probably not supported.
