VCDS / VAG-COM settings to make GTI needles dance upon ignition

R needle flick on start up on GTI

hi guys,
Not sure if this has been asked before (most probably has but i couldn't find it, I have a GTI but love how on start up in an R the speedo and rev needles flick all the way around and back. How/can this be done on my GTI?? It this a coding thing?

With VCDS but some GTI's with a certain dash cluster can't do it.

How do you know which dash cluster you have? I have a friend with VCDS where foninfijd
the coding for it? Or will he find it who we connect up??

I think its the older gti that doesnt do it but most will. You can just use VCDS and go into dash enable needle sweep and try. Might work might not

Mines a late 2009 build and i was able to activate the needle sweep. Ive also done it for another guy who had a 2010 model. Funnily enough the process to activate it was different for each car.
