Golf R 3 door/5 door speculation/information thread

So, have we got a car price already? Good to know options price should you need any, but what about the R itself?

My information is that the 3 doors were ordered in error.

...sort of like the shipment of T4 dual cabs that someone at VW ordered years ago without back doors on either side.

I have no information on the fate that awaits them.

...and the pricing should start about $5k less than the current R32.

$59,490 for 5 Door with DSG
$56,990 for 5 Door with Manual

$54,490 for 5 Door Golf R with DSG
$51,990 for 5 Door Golf R with Manual

Assuming the rumors are correct with a 5K saving.

No dealer delivery, stamp duty, luxury car tax, rego included there. So add 5K or more ontop of that.

If the 5K saving is to be belived then it won't be around the 50K mark, it will prob start around 55K with no dealer delivery, stamp duty etc etc.

Good to know that the Bi-xenon's are standard.
Now we just need to know if they are bringing out the 3 door option.

Just to make it clear to everyone. At this point of time we know what specs and what options are on golf R and you can place an order on the car, subject to pricing. Thats if you want to be amongst first people to drive golf R

On one hand it's great news that the 3 door is coming to Australia, and that the options price is out!

But I don't want to put my name down for an order of a 3 door without knowing it's price!

Bloody hell, it's great news! But I still don't know if it's worth stopping my GTI order for the R.
