  • H&R Bits are already available for the new Golf R

As fast as the R-model gained a firm place in the Golf family the faster is H&R in coming up with suspension components for the Golf VI R. The specialists from Lennestadt are as of now offering the ideal suspension set for this car with sporty ambitions. Lowering it by around 20 millimetres not only increases the look but also lends this super Golf a touch more dynamism on the curves.- without perceptibly reducing the comfort.

Friends of speed on the curves will soon be well served with the height adjustable H&R coil over suspension. This dynamic construction can only be topped by the optionally available H&R stabilizers.

Additional highlights can be achieved from the H&R TRAK+ Wheel Spacersmade of high tensile aluminium – regardless of whether they are combined with works or tuned wheels.

The small gap between the wheel arch and the edge of the wing can thus definitely be consigned to the past.

Anyway personal choice as mentioned, neither one is better or worse.
Yeah it is - but you could blindfold me, put me in any car, and then remove the blind fold but only let me look forward, and I could still tell you whether it's a 3 or 5 door. And it's the inside that I'm most concerned about.

      • Anyone know if H&R sways from the R32 fit onto Golf R? Asked Performalink (where i bought them) and they said 'no', but thought it would be the same platform as S3?

Edit: H&R is the way to go (or other quality setups), don't see the point of spending 1500 on Adaptive Chassis that just makes the car softer.

        • I would assume that the R would require slightly different suspension due to the different in weight and weight distribution. But then I would also assume that the R and S3 would use the same suspension too...

          • H&R coilovers exhibited the tug'n'release on the MKV Golf. Some owners put in plastic/rubber isolator pads between the top of the spring and strut housing. Personally, I'd go the ACC on the Golf R, esp with 19" wheels. Otherwise the HPA KW SHS (if/when available) or Sachs Coilover as they are a bit softer than other coilover kits. H&R are greater for handling, but a bit rough on the B-grade roadways.

Swaybars ... Looks like the MK6 GTI and R are set up with larger rear sway bars, dialling in less understeer than the MKV GTI or R32. Not sure if I'd go for the sway bars. Go for the coilovers first, then reconsider.

            Cheers.

            • Yeah the R is a bit new to know for sure, could have been the shop wanting to sell me more later.

That 5 door has a very nice stance, a bit like this one :

3 door can look like a bit of a half-shell with two doors IMO.

Only very occasionally on high speed mid corner bumps, or if i had people in the back. I did the 'fender mod' and to this day could never be sure if it was scrubbing on the inside lining or the outside from the sound, but really not an issue.

I don't think it would be any different for the new model either, and could still have rolled/pulled the guards but didn't want to.

All in all it was quite good ride considering the drop, but you'd feel it on terrible (potholes etc) roads.

Each to their own, but don't think no 3 door would be a deal breaker but would be disappointing for those that want one.

But after all the press pics etc i doubt VWA would tease everyone then say 'no you can't have one', although the same thing could happen with the Scirocco so won't be a surprise getting screwed over for choices in AUS.

                        • I dont know - I'm not sure VWA has any issue at all with teasing us with press pictures and then denying us the opportunity to buy it!
MKV GTI was almost entirely shown in 3 door. Then when first released in Australia, the entire brochure was 3 door - yet the only car you could order was 5 door! They've done it before, they'll do it again

                          • That's true but the 3 doors came afterwards so could be the same story!

No polo 3 doors is a joke though.

                            • Yeah - the new Polo GTI was kinda my 'fall back car' to wait for VW to come to their senses with the no 3 door on the R. But you're right - no 3 doors on that is just ****ing ridiculous - the car is so small that the rear doors are useless for anyone but kids anyway.

                              • If the Focus RS did come out that would be quite tempting without the prick teasing.
