Called up Rob from Hunters Hill Window Tinting and got it booked in within the week.
This guy does his tinting from his garage, and can do mobile.
Looks a very professional setup and he is very informative.
I decided on 35% on the front two windows, 22% on the middle passengers and 15% the whole rear on the passat.
My car is black so I didn't get the shiny stuff, just what I think he called "Quantum".
Decent price at $260. Excited to see what it looks like.

I'm keen to try this guy - I originally went to the big name brand and they couldn't get mine right after 4 attempts - it still has numerous "points" that they tell me are normal, as well as tiny hairs here and there under the tint. I was advised that this is characteristic of VAG's - that the felt wipers at the base of the windows have threads that get wicked up by the water under the film as it dries - apparently they had a VW that did the same thing prior to my car being done. (yeah, I think it's BS as well)..Originally posted by xordis View PostJust thought I would post up the info here.
More than happy with the job I had done on mine, and it has been 6 months now and I have had no issues
The guys name is Malcolm and he will come to your place (probably on a Saturday)
0410 687 015 is his number and he lives in Brisbane (Karana Downs area I believe)
He does the Solaguard stuff and did a good job.Redline3345 MY11 Octavia vRS Wagon TSI DSG | Brilliant Silver | Milltek cat back exhaust | Bilstein PSS10 | TSR Panorama | Remsa | Leather | Sunroof | Towbar | Front Sensors | Boot Protector | Xenons | Corner Fogs | Alarm | Extended Warranty | Superskoda Bits & Bling

Window tinting in Perth
My black Mk 6 GTI needs tints desperately as even with the winter/spring sun I can feel my forearm and face burning after just a few minutes driving. My last two cars were tinted by the dealer before I took delivery but I bought this car second-hand and I may as well get it done now before summer arrives.
Can someone recommend a business south of river in Perth and should/can I tint the windscreen and/or rear window?2010 | Mk 6 | Golf GTI | DSG | black | 18" Detroit's | MDI

I usually use a local tint-a-car, as they have a lot of good options and provide a good guarantee - but at a price (which of course is negotiable). I personally like their F1 tint, but they have a few choices.Originally posted by MovieDude View PostMy black Mk 6 GTI needs tints desperately as even with the winter/spring sun I can feel my forearm and face burning after just a few minutes driving. There are loads of smaller operators out there which will give you a tint for a lot less, but in my experience if you have any issues it's nicer to deal with a bigger mob..
You can tint all windows, just not the windscreen.

I got my Golf done at TintACar last year along with a Sirius paint protection. About 2-3 months later, I was washing the car and noticed a scratch. Thot it was a goner but a quick application of Turtle Wax scratch remover fixed it. I am not sure if it was Sirius or Turtle Wax but for the new Tiguan, I decided to go for the same deal.Originally posted by kryten2001 View PostI usually use a local tint-a-car, as they have a lot of good options and provide a good guarantee - but at a price (which of course is negotiable). Plus the wife noticed the heat coming through the side windows was more apparent than in the Golf

Does anyone know if Solargard Galaxie 35 window tint is any good?
Galaxie
I'm yet to purchase my car from the dealer and this is the tint they are putting on my white car.
I want a black look to my windows and I don't quite think the Galaxie 35 will cut it... :/MY13 Polo GTI | 5 Door | Candy White | Sunroof & Bi-Xenon Factory Options
