Mk6 LED Taillights

Bump. Can anyone with the Xenons & LED DRLs that have also fitted the LED R-tails mind checking if they are finding the same thing with the rears working in tandem with the DRLs and only switched off through the MFD & unchecking the Daytime Running Lights box?

I have an 11.5 with Xenon and LED DRL, fitted with the R-Tails. They work as advertised! Which Hex Code did you use to code the car? I found "04" was the only one that worked. I have CE version 0615 BTW...

Champion. So that explains that. Be interesting to see if recoding removes that flashing? Reminds me of when I attached my Kart trailer with LED lights - car freaks out with that too.

So, still need to work out the relationship with the LED DRLs.

Sorry mate, I just re edited my post, originally copied and pasted it incorrectly oops
As soon as mine had been recoded, I stood at the back of the car and watched the guy turn the ignition on and off a couple of times
to make sure the fog didn't flash anymore.....all good, no problem.

Chopper, your my man (so to speak). Can you please confirm when your headlights are OFF, LED DRLs are ON, that your R-Tails are OFF? If this is the case, is there any chance you recall prior to recoding if they worked together? My R-Tails only go OFF when my LED DRLs are switched OFF too.

Sounds to me like a coding issue... it took 3 different codes before "04" worked for my car. How many codes did you try? Are you using "04"?

I haven't coded it yet. That's why I wasn't quite clear if what I was experiencing was the same as yourself and others PRIOR to the coding. I assumed that the tails should be OFF. Thanks again for helping me out.

Just a quick heads up to anyone thinking of purchasing the LED's through my contact in Germany.

The guy I deal with is on annual leave at the moment and someone is filling in for him. I have had a couple of members contact them during this time and are being given some different part numbers for the LED's.

Now I know that the lights changed around week 45 2010 from the original part numbers that I have on my 2009 model.
Original numbers for dark tint RHD models were

OK, thanks to DubDub for clearing this up.

The German contact has said part numbers that he quoted (3) are the latest supercession to part numbers (2). I already knew that (2) were good numbers as I have fitted them.

So, if anyone is in the process of ordering these it looks like its OK to go ahead.

No worries Mate... we found the car did some funny stuff with different codes in the System!

I think if you code it properly, you'll be OK!

Quick question – can anyone confirm the correct byte 18 code for a March 2011 build GTI with Halogen lights? Looks like I’m the only guy that didn’t get Xenons in this thread (the 6-8 month wait was too long!)

Seems everyone is using code “04” the info sheet said not to use “15” for Australian cars… other option is “43”?

Planning to fit tonight and get the dealer to do a quick code job for me…

Hi crew,

I trade in my GTI for an A5 Sportback this week.

I am removing the Mk6 Golf R LED Tails I installed to re-install the stock parts today.

Therefore if you want to save yourself the hassle of importing them (although it was as smooth as I could have hoped thanks to the advice in this thread), you can buy them and pick them up off me as of this week. If you wanted to install them on the spot I don't mind helping. Just bring beers.

Recoding was simple at a dealer. They respect you for putting them in yourself so are happy to help.
