Mk6 LED Taillights

If the headlights were on, then the tails should have been on too. Unsure why your headlights would be on in bright sunshine though? Did you have the headlight selector in the A mode? Even after we fitted our R tails (before recoding was done, they weren't on unless headlights were on)

Headlights weren't on. I moved the headlight selector from Auto to off just to be sure. Well, this is weird. I won't panic until after the coding.

Sorry, you mean how long did I wait for delivery of my tails from Germany? About 3 weeks from memory.

Please advise if this has been previously discussed, but are the R tails always on?

I noticed when reversing today in perfect sunshine that the tails were on (like the headlights were on) and only went off when I turned the vehicle off.

If this is not normal, does the recoding change this?

This is not normal. I vaguely recall someone else experiencing this problem, and a physical check/recheck of the connections fixed it. Go through and unplug all your connectors and adapters, and reattach them, and see if that fixes it.

Mine are only on when the Xennons are on as far as I'm aware, might be a coding issue?

Interesting discovery, after checking all the connections (which were all good) - with the DRLs set to on in the lights section of the menu, led tail light cluster is on. Turn off the DRLs and the tail lights instantly turn off also.

I guess this is a feature. DRLs front and rear?

Hmm.....I am fairly sure when my DRLs 'were' temporarily activated, neither the OEM originals or R tails were on, I could be mistaken and am happy to re activate them to let you know, just can't do it today

You should be able to track them with the number Mathias has given you. You have to do it via the German DHL site not the Aus one.

I purchased the Tail Lights when I bought the car they said they could fit them but a fail they did not account for the Wiring Loom change on my GTI. I have ordered the adapters and code box from TMTUNING. I have a VCDS cable that someone has lent me so I will scan before I change just in case...... I have Bi Xenons With DRL the car is a March/April build I only just got the car from the dealers yesterday....

I was advised by TM Tuning that the code box will work right or left hand drive....

But to be sure who ever might know do you think this coding should be correct?

Build date: Mid-late 2010+ (including MY11, MY11.5)
Central Electrics Revision*: 0615
Headlights: Bi-Xenon (MY11.5 with LED DRL) (verified by chopper):
- Coding (hex): 4
- Coding (binary): 00000100

Bump. Can anyone with the Xenons & LED DRLs that have also fitted the LED R-tails mind checking if they are finding the same thing with the rears working in tandem with the DRLs and only switched off through the MFD & unchecking the Daytime Running Lights box?

Not sure if this is going to help, my GTI came fitted with DRL's and R tails from the dealer (Adidas version came like this) these are not aftermarket. The DRLs when turned on in the MFD and the light switch set to 'A' the tails are NOT on. If you switch to 'parkers' (one after 'A') the DRL's dim and the tails turn on.

FWIW, R tails are not on when DRL,s are activated, probably not much help, but just a follow up anyway. Hope you get it sorted

Ok. Thank you for checking that. I wonder what is going on. Now I really need someone to check that has installed them after market with the Xenons & LED DRLs

I can't understand why the MY11.5 would be any different as far as operation other than for the Xenons. Hope it is just a coding thing. I also noticed this though:

About 5 seconds after I turn on the car the fog light flickers??????

Found this post further back in this thread Backdoc.....knew I had read it somewhere

Something I noticed the other day (whilst admiring my tails in the reflection from a glass door I was parked in front of...sad I know.) is that the fog light flashes 3-4 times when you start the car and the MFD is cycling through the errors.

PS Mine also did this, once recoded it stopped
