I have been looking/checking online for "LED tail lights" and found few links:

The price is quite cheap - only "260 to 300 USD" i.e. around "245 to 275 AUD". Has anyone ordered them form China? Not sure about the quality!

Alibaba.com is a wholesale website. They generally don't sell to individuals.

Watch out though guys - they are most likely cheap chinese copies, not OEM spec.

VW has factories in China producing the Golf and they have LHD LED tail lights. $300 sounds about right from what I've seen.

Yes... though keep in mind what is produced in China is for the China market only. It's not necessarily up to the same standards as "rest of world". If it were, then they'd put more factories in China and ship cars from there

Just picked the car up from Quattro's... these lights really should be standard... they look awesome.

Just an update on the coding. We fitted my LED Tails yesterday (many thanks to Ozram for his expert help and advice!) and for my car (MY11.5 with 0615, Xenon's with DRL) the only code that worked was HEX "04" at Byte 18.

Just wanted to confirm that the above coding that chopper supplied is indeed correct for MY11.5 with combination of Xennon & new LED DRL.

My dealership was fitting the lights + coding them today as part of the pre-delivery and gave me a call whilst they were doing the coding. They were having trouble as it kept throwing up error codes for them. I got asked where I had got the lights from and if they were OEM. After telling them the lights were sourced directly from a dealership in Germany they then asked if my source had sent any instructions LOL!

I went straight to this thread and gave them the code supplied above - the guy I spoke to plugged it in and yelled YES! He was impressed and thanked me haha. Credit goes to chopper lol

Credit should really go to Ozram... he helped fit the lights and coded the car for me! I just had the codes (we tried 3 different codes before hitting the jackpot!).

Question for anyone... what is the ORIGINAL code that goes in Byte 18? I wrote down the long code, but I forgot to note the Byte 18 code before we changed it... in case I want to put the old lights back!

My dealer didn't charge me anything mate. They were happy to take care of it in the pre-delivery stage. Can't wait to see the car on Thursday!

My Cherry LED Tail Lights finally arrived.
Fitted and coded last weekend.
A simple task.

I can confirm that coding requires Byte 18 to be changed from 00 to 04 on MY11.5 models.

I ordered a pair of R-line cherry red LED tails from TMTuning last week. I realised that I never ordered the recommended code box and adapter: code box and adapter for Golf 6 OEM LED taillights

Does anyone know if I need the code box and adapter or can I just fit the lights and live with the code error until I get it fixed via VAGCOM? Will be fitted on a 2010 Golf GTI with Xenons.

I think the Code Box only works with LHD Cars! Just recode the VAGCOM!

You will need the Adaptors though...
