Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. Would these fit into a tsI my12 golf?
Would be keen on these if so...

Do these rub up against cloth and wear that over time?

Chasing seat covers(where) and do they destroy...

The cloth set or wear it out quickly?

Just concerned as I'd like to sort out my friends car with some nice covers
Over the cloth for a my12 golf tsI but would like to make sure it doesn't cause
      Long term damage.

Also any experiences, stores or purchase information would be greatly
      Appreciated...

With any seat covers these days ensure they are air bag compliant. With our cars you can't just buy any old seat covers for them.

Deploy Safe - Car Seat Covers

I have lambswool seat covers on both of my cars with air bags. Another thing to check is that there is a backing over any seams that would come incontact with the seat fabric. The cheaper ones don't and would wear the seat fabric.

Having said all that, I recently traded in a 14yo 4wd which I had lambswool seat covers on since new and the velour (remember them) seats were as good as new.

            stockt12,

I have just gone through this exercise. I didn't want to by lambswool because they look stupid in a GTI. Instead, I opted for custom made sperling seat covers.

I'm in and out of the car all day and we have a dog as well.

They are fantastic, and are black - so don't interfere with the look of the interior (as much as lambswool anyway). They didn't have a pattern for the GTI, so they went out and measured one up. I received the seat covers within a couple of weeks and they are awesome. Breathable, fit like a glove, easily removed to be washed, etc etc. Only disadvantage was the cost ($160 for the pair...ouch)

PM me your email address and I will send you a couple of pictures if you like.

            Cheers!

              Seat covers

just curious to know if any of you currently use seat covers on your GTI? I have a rub mark on the right side and I'm looking to protect the seats from further wear by using covers. Have been quoted $200 for 2 custom fronts from autobarn.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone i could see to organize something to protect the seat?

              I'm in Brisbane btw

              Cheers

Make sure they won't impact on the operation and effectiveness of the in-seat airbags otherwise you may have issues.

                  Seat covers

There are plenty available for air bag seats too... Just have to read the fine print regarding them that's all.
