  • MK6 Golf Seat Covers

    Hi all,

I'm new to this form and to VW GTI's...seriously an addictive car and hard to get out of and I have to say one of the best purchases I have ever made!!

Just wandering if anyone knows if/where you can get seat covers for the MKVI GTI? I've found that the 'Jacky' seats attract a lot of dust/pet hair etc.

I know it won't look nearly as 'cool' with seat covers....but I rather keep them in good condition.

    Thanks!

beware that seat covers may block air-bag functionality... not recommended..

Hey man, thanks for the advice. I might also check with the dealer who I bought it off.

      Cheers,

Try Nanolex Textile and Leather Sealant. It's pretty amazing.

For all of my cars, I have been getting my seat covers made to order from www.sperling.com.au. They use to have cotton seat covers but the latest synthetics are not to bad.

i dont think you should put seat covers on them as they have side airbags on the seat

If it's for pet hair, keep em off the front seats

No hassle with putting covers on the back seats or getting a proper mat for the rear which straps between the rear and front head rests. Stops the dog from falling between the seats (which also minimises hair from coming forward) and can also be tied in so mans best friend doesn't go through the windscreen.

Also scotch guard or similar the seats so you can wipe them down with a damp rag.

Most commercial seat covers should be air-bag compatible and they are characterised with a hole at the air-bag side of the seat cover or the seams are selected and sewn so they will tear when the air-bag erupts. As with most things you buy, check the fine print!

I disagree, it can look as cool with a seat cover. Check out this sofa and how you can see through the protective layer!

But seriously why would you cover them over? Just scotchguard the seats and the carpets for around $60 (3 cans) and they'll be well protected.

                      Please recommend sheepskin seat covers

I purchased seat covers from Autobarn for my wife's Gold VI but they don't fit. They are Nature's Fleece brand and were a bit short in the back causing the bottom to pull back exposing the synthetic front.

Can anyone recommend a sheepskin seat cover that fits? It would be a bonus if the genuine sheepskin extends to the sides too as I am not a fan of the synthetic material malting on the sides. Otherwise I will look at custom.

                      Thanks for any advice,
                      Dave.

                        Seat covers

                        Hi,

I would be very careful fitting seat covers to the front seats, as the seats (I believe) include the side airbags. Any seat covers that cover the front seats would deem the airbags useless/inoperative.

                        Can anyone else clarify this?

Yeah - the seat covers would need to be designed with provision for the side airbag.

Apart from that, I can't really help though. I detest seat covers as they don't allow you to sit 'in' the seat properly, which creates strain on the back etc going around corners as the seat can't properly support you etc.

The seat covers I tried are airbag compatable. They have a void where the airbag is located.

I dislike seat covers too but my wife wants them.

Suggest to your wife that maybe she should just wear a cover
