Compliance plate is the plate which gets put on the car after it goes through its checks and (sometimes modifications) after arriving in Australia. It'd still be a 2009 build though
That's what I thought......
Thanks for clearing that one up!

Can I just ask, when you say 'compliance plated', that is not the build date is it? It would have to be an 09 build to be getting it early Feb wouldn't it?
Yeah Nic like Coreying has stated.
I think VW said the vehicle was week 47 built (2009) and has just arrived this week on the "boat". They are in the process of releasing it from the docks and this is when the compliance plate is attached. So 2009 build, 2010 model, 2010 compliance....still it is last years car though.
BTW walked in off the street yesterday said what I wanted and they found this car just about to be off loaded, how is that for arse. To order would see mid May arrival date.

I calculate that (minus headlight and bonnet protectors, since they're worthless) to be ~$51250 otr for a 3dr, therefore giving a ~8.3% discount - which is alright. For a 5dr it would be ~$53800 giving you a 12.6% discount which is great.
As for the headlight and bonnet protectors - they're ugly, and bonnet protectors are truly useless. They'd be dealer fit anyway, so get them to give you something useful like some umbrellas and jackets or something.
If you're actually concerned about protecting your car from stonechips etc, look into 3M Paint Protection Film or Ventureshield StoneGuard (discussed in other threads here) as it's the only solution which will actually prevent paint damage to your car, and can protect far more than just the 'front edge' of your bonnet like the ugly plastic 'bonnet protectors' are able to.

Wasn't sure we got a good deal or not... but it was pretty hard going towards the end of negotiating. Most dealers flat out refused to even come near to matching. Only one at McGrath Liverpool could offer less - only $180 so we went with the local offer.
Does it sound good? I've never negotiated a car sale before. I hope we didn't get ripped off.
Time to take advantage of the 'free on roads' special VWA are pushing at the moment. At least, I saw an as on TV for one of our local dealers here in Canberra last night. Includes all models except for GTD and R.
