      Hey turbice,

So the on the road price for that car is around $43,400 and some change in NSW. So if you take the $39.5K then you'll see around a 9.1% discount, that seems around the average for members here for that mod, best was 12.8% worst was 6.1%.

Have a look at the dealer negotiations thread with spreadsheet attached for more info.

Mate with 'free' on roads the discount is pretty flimsy, unless you take them into account for the overall price. What it comes down to is how much you want to pay and how badly you want the car.

I'm pretty new here, not very knowledgeable by any measure compared to some of the dubbers here, where I've read up and developed my limited knowledge.

Time to get that car and start smiling i think

There is no such thing as "free onroads" - someone has to pay the government the stamp duty and taxes, the RTA their stuff, the insurance company their stuff etc. About the only thing that VW can actually "waiver" is the 'dealer delivery' - but they still need to pay the labour of the people preparing the car anyway. In other words, VW are just paying for everything instead of you. So I believe that "free onroads" is basically to be viewed as "pre-negotiated discount which you don't have to bother haggling for". So I don't think you can exclude it from the equation when working out what you can strive for % wise.

Interesting - i've got my 90TSI as mentioned in the signature for about the same (true, i do have reverse sensors attached) - and I wanted Candy White too but they didn't have any in stock on 31/12 (when they were doing no on roads/delivery, etc) ... mind you, I am not part of APESMA, so how would that work if i had've walked up to them and said "APESMA" ?

And, is it a demonstrator or new ? When did you purchase ? I had to go before 31/12 due to the tax break.

Wow, everyone's been doing well I think I still got a good deal with no on road/stamp duty/rego (end of the month is always better) - shame I couldn't get the 118 or white...although I'm signwriting it for my business, and Jet Silver is still as good a neutral base for that kind of thing...

No difference really.. I mentioned it early on and they took 8% off and reduced the asking price to $34k... then the manager came out and they started going over the January arrivals... there was a candy white on the list that I liked, so I then spent 30 minutes grinding them down on price from that point and getting them to throw in car mats.
