I'm not too sure where to ask this but my sister and her husband are looking at buying a GTI under the current sale and they have found a MY11 with the specs they want (manual, grey, 18's, MDI, Bluetooth and xenons) and they wanted to know if the MY11 had the daytime running lights. I know for a fact the MY12 has them but I wasn't sure about the MY11. Thanks in advance
Simply had myself booked for a test drive for a manual golf... Was exactly the colour and options I was after - I was so surprised. With the drive-away deal at the moment and some haggling with the dealer I just had to sign.
It was technically a demo but had only been on the floor 2 weeks with 170km on it.

Current free on roads is applicable to any car that you can receive by the end of October. Not so bad for DSG's but I found manual stock to be pretty tight across the dealers I spoke to.
hey guys. wanted to ask you all for your opinions. looking to get a gti since vw has the sale on and the onroad savings sound good.
I've been offered the following options for $55.5k from the dealer:
Leather
Sunroof
Satnav
RVC
Park assist
18" Detroits
MDI+bluetooth
in Carbon Steel
do you guys think this is worth it? using the calculator seems like it is just still pretty close to RRP if you take off all the dealer delivery, stamp duty, rego, etc.
reckon its possible to get them to go down to $50k? Or is that too much of a push?
You should be able to get them down to $50 for that lot. Lets be honest you could pretty much get an R with for that price...
I got a white GTI with leather (MY12 so MDI and BT are standard) for $45, so the rest of those options should cost about 5K.
I know that individually they would cost more, but the opportunity cost of the extras comes in as most people don't want every option and so these overpriced full fruit cars can be a bit of a bargain...
Offer $49 and see if they come back with $50...
Is it a MY12? IF it is an older MY then it will have been hanging around for at least 4 months, and so your offer should reflect that.

really appreciate ur thoughts.
You should be able to get a better deal than that. I got my MY11.5 R 5DR, DSG, 19 TALLAS, SATNAV, LEATHER, SUNROOF, BT & MDI
for 58k. I did have the corp discount but that wasn't that big. Lucky enough to get one that had just landed as well. Although I did cancel my order with another dealer giving up my 1k deposit,my umbrella & picnic set.
You should be able to get it to 50k without any trouble.
i've ended up putting a deposit on an edition 35! if all goes to plan i'd be picking it up on saturday!!!!
sadly, was kinda keen on the reverse camera though. dealer offered to install it if they could get the parts for 2k(up from 1.4k for normal gtis). wondering if theres anyone else in melbourne that can do that for less.
still wrapped that i'm going to be getting an ed 35!
DIY will save u heaps, as i know, parts just costs u under $700 and DIY is free. have a look for related topic from "DIY section" of "VWgolf.net.au" forum", cheers

Hi guys. I'm new to this site also -great to have found this thread thanks for all the info.
I visited a VW Dealer on the weekend to test drive a GTI. Im no real hurry to buy and was initially looking at getting one about a year or so old with low kms and and some warranty to save some $ but after a corporate discount and a quick chat walked away thinking I might just get myself a MY12. The dealer has one on order due mid december with pretty much the extras I am after: GTI MY12 5DR DSG, CANDY WHITE, 18", SUNROOF, with tint - drive away $44,900.
Im pretty happy with the price I think and an on the verge of taking the plunge, probably just need a little nudge.
