  • That undated VW Corporate Program document is the most explosive document I've seen online this side of Wikileaks if it is current.

Better take a copy of that just in case before VW issues a take down notice!

*Does anyone know its validity? If it were current I would have expected to see reduced support for Rs and other models in short supply. No mention of Polo, let alone Polo GTI.

The document does expressly refer to a Letter of Authorisation from the employee's employer. However, use the force, Molotov, and have the contents of the letter placed onto company letterhead (using a Word version from your dealer perhaps) and have your manager sign it (if HR won't).

My employer initially refused but then I raised my hand a little and started drawing my thumb and forefinger together and he reached for his collar and, shortly afterwards, his pen.

Of course, in terms of negotiating a better outcome than corporate, this is far more easily done, and more equitably so for the dealer, if the entitlement to the Corporate Discount is in hand. So if you are entitled to it, you would be mad not to negotiate with it. I mean, why wouldn't you give the dealer the extra 5% margin to play with?

    • That doco is a few years old - I know because I checked it out and all those people listed don't even work there anymore!

Although when I mentioned it was on the net to VW Australia, they were surprised and denied all knowledge.....

      • Really helpful guys - thank you. It's probably more a reflection of my negotiation skills than anything. I've always had a short fuse for insincerity and I'm more likely to walk out "in principle" even if it means forgoing a good deal

        • I thought I'd better add my info to this page since scrawling through it gave an excellent idea of how much I should pay for a new car. Was looking for a 2nd hand mk6, but like many before me, forked out a bit extra and got a brand new car picking it up next week!

Red Golf gti dsg 5 door
          Mdi
          bt
          Detroit's
          reverse camera
          44.5k

Included a corporate discount... finally my CPA membership was of use for the first time in my life.

          • Well done mate. Where'd you get it from? I'd be going for the same package but I'd substitute Dynaudio for the Detroits because I'm a closet Doof-doofer (ie. I keep my windows up) and I'd skip the reverse camera. I'd settle for 44k for all of that but I might wait for the end of the financial year at my company to see if Santa rewards me.

            • hi mate, got it through VW Melville. Was lucky to find a salesperson who wasn't full of ***** and was very easy to deal with. Called around to every other dealer and no dice.

would really have liked to get the RNS510, but at the end of the day, they're all the same car driving-wise, unless you get ACC or something. But the rims, i had to have the rims! Detroits look sick.

hope Santa is good to you mate.

              • Recently I've been thinking of moving to a DSG GTI and though I haven't decided on whether to go for a Mk V or VI I'd like to ask you who you with at Melville as it's my closest dealer.

                • Moviedude I'll pm you some details after I pick up the vehicle. I think the corporate discount played a big part in getting the price down in my case, I doubt I would've got near this price without it.

                  • Hey guys,

                    I thank you all!!

I just bought a Golf GTI MY12 with:

                    - detroit
                    - sunroof
                    - leather
                    - 5 door dsg
                    - deep black pearlescent
                    - delivery within 3 weeks

I got it for $48,500 from Barlowrold Glen Waverly from a guy named MAX.

Also just wondering if the model number is xxxxxx/12, does the 12 mean MY12?

Reading from your experience buying the new golf helped me alot, thanks again guys!

                    Cheers!!

                      • From Corys spreadsheet thats about 12% discount, so going on the anything over 10% is good, then that's not a bad price. Lots of expensive options there

Roughly how much would it have been without the Detroits and sunroof?

I am not sure, I basically rang all melbourne VW dealers and told them I was ready to buy at $48500 and told them I didn't want to waste their time or my time and if they can give it to me at this price I'll come buy it today as long as they have the model and options I wanted in stock in Melbourne.

I went to the dealers couple of times before but I found that my asking price kept going up, I even told one sales person in burwin VW? today, that I will buy for $50000 which had exact same options and in stock but he wanted another $500 so I walked out.

so yeah shop around and if you don't like the price walkout.

Oh yeah and Max is a great guy, he dosen't talk BS actually he dosen't talk that much. Maybe he just wanted to sell a car today who knows but I like him
